All very new. I found the displays dull. School children may enjoy it especially if they have studied the history. Entrance is cheap, only R$6 We preferred Forte de Leme with it's amazing views. But you'll have to walk an 800m cobbled trail to see it...well worth it!

Really loved this place when in Rio de Janeiro. The view was nice and it right in Copacabana where we were staing.

We decided to take a tour on our walk towards Ipanema Beach, and were pleaseantly surprised. Very well managed and educational self-guided tour, and was impressed by the "inner workings" of how this "Fort" use to operate in it's day. There's a few spots to sit and have a bite to eat or a drink while watching the waves crash... More

We got there as the sun was setting -- 7ish -- and it is just a nice place to sit and relax or walk around and admire. We weren't charged a fee for some reason -- maybe b/c it was closing at 8pm -- but it was nice to see - they have a museum -- it closes at 6pm... More

Sitting in the shade along the walkway to the end of this rocky point is a highlight not to be missed in Copacabana. The view of the entire stretch of beach lies in front of you. A couple small restaurants, with outdoor table service, are there if you wish a drink or a meal. In terms of a fort, there... More

When you are sitting on the beach enjoying the Rio sun or splashing in the waves it is easy to forget about the history of Rio and how this city has evolved over time. Fort Copacabana helps to provide some context as to how this serene setting came to be. The Fort is still a working military base so in... More

The views of Copacobana beach and Sugar Loaf are simply superb. It is a lovely walk along the promenade, with a couple of very pleasant restaurant/bars with tables on the edge of the promenade, in the shade of some big trees. The museum is vaguely interesting. But you must go inside the fort itself which is simply fascinating - it... More

Encourage you to check out the cupula ( roof top view) here. You'll get magnificent views taking photos here with Copacabana Beach plus Sugarloaf mountain in the background scenes.

One goes to Copacabana to see the famed beach so an old fort and military museum is a contrast and a welcome one for history buffs. The fort itself is quite recent (1890's and later) and well preserved - indeed the site is still an active military base. This was the scene of the uprising by Siqura Campos, after whom... More

This is the best place to take pictures from copacabana beach. You also have a great view of the sugar loaf. The landscapes there are beautiful. You may also relax under the shadow of the trees and have some beverages at the cafes. The fort, per se, is interesting but the views are much better.
