Was here for the 2014 Rio Carnaval! Wonderful experience. Lovely venue. Great views, awesome singing, colourful, amazing & breathtaking. The sambodrome is where the samba schools compete at the end of the Rio carnavale. Worth visiting even when there is no carnaval.

I had a dream come true when I visited sambodramo during carnival this year. The place itself is very big and well organized overall. The event itself is electrifying as advertised. The only thing I would've liked for was the cushions handed out to be more comfortable since the event goes on for hours and the ticket prices are pretty... More

I don't know why, but attending the samba competition in Rio had long been on my bucket list. It was one of the excursions offered by the cruise ship I was on, docked in Rio, so I jumped at the chance. It was not quite what I had expected, much more organized and more choreographed, but spectacular, as was the... More

I would have rated it much higher if I attended during Carnival time. My friends & I visited the site during world cup 2014. It was basically an empty stadium with the seats. it was still a good 20-30 mins stop to take pictures and look around. There is a souvenirs shop there with costume and video that you can... More

All I can say about experiencing two evenings at the Sambodrome, is that if going to the carnival is not on your bucket-list, then it should be! No parade on earth can beat what you experience at this extravaganza (especially with the Group A schools) as words cannot describe what this show offers!!! Its not cheap to buy a good... More

this drome is worth going to during Carnival! But if you missed Carnival, go have a look at the Sambadrome. I myself had a different expectation of Carnival and Samba but visiting the Sambadrome made it clearer and you undestand more how this event is structured.

Initially, we had no plans to visit the Sambódromo, as it seemed a bit overpriced (and there are cheaper things to do in Rio during Carnival). That said, we decided to chance our luck one night, by arriving at the venue once the parade had started and buying a ticket from one of the many touts outside. We got a... More

We had a group of 10 people all attending the Samba parade on March 1, 2014 when our cruise ship had a layover for one night in Rio. The parade is amazing!! Really one of the "highlights" for our cruise. The floats, costumes, and dancers were truly wonderful. It is one event that everyone should experience. The cruise ship tour... More

It was a really incredible show and cost us less than $20 to get in (you can buy a ticket from one of multiple touts outside as easy as anything). The floats were absolutely staggering - it´s crazy to think how much work must have gone into preparing. 4* is only because of the ludicrous toilet situation (6 toilets between... More
