The market is quite accessible (at the eastern edge of Ipanema, so not far from Copacabana). We walked through on the way back from Sugar Loaf and found many of the souvenirs were more expensive than we had seen elsewhere (only a couple of Reals eitger way in most cases). Indeed, many of the trinkets can be found in almost... More

This is one of the worthwhile things to do if you're in the vicinity of the main Rio beaches (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Sao Conrado) or Lagoa and want to purchase some local items. Some reviews stated that this fair is open weekends, but that is inaccurate, it is only open on Sundays. The website says 07:00 to 19:00 (7AM to... More

This fair is only open on the weekends and houses all the souvenirs from the beach in a one stop shop. Worth a walk and definitely bring reals (Cash in Rio is pronounced: Hey-Eyes). This is where you can buy something uniquely from Rio for family and friends. The location is great with lots of brunch spots nearby and walkable.... More

I'm not sure I will 'go out of my way' to visit this market but if you are in the area, why not? They have some 'standard market' stuff that you will find anywhere else in the world but they also have very interesting items. Great leather handbags & artwork but somehow I expected it to be less expensive. I... More

Only on Sunday you can visit the Ipanema hippie fair. I have visited the hippie fair each time I come to Rio and have purchased paintings to plates. There are a few food stalls and it is very easy to get a drink. The shopping.. There is something for locals as well as tourists, but think tourists will take more... More

I went here yesterday and have nothing bad to say. Enjoyed walking around and browsing for s couple hours. Ended up buying a painting and a couple small items for loved ones. If you are in the Ipanema area on Sunday, check it out. You won't be let down.

Could have spent all day here and bought a ton of things. The weather was so hot and humid that we had to limit the time. Nice things at great prices. Leather, art work, jewelry, shirts, shoes ….

Waited til Sunday to buy souvenirs, was told the "flea" market had the best deals. Not true. Well if you are looking for hand crafted items maybe, but for tee shirts and key rings , you know trinkets for the folk at home you'd do better on Atlantic ave along the beach at night and even better still off the... Looking for presents to bring back home with you? This is the place to go! Lively, cheap and where you can also enjoy some North Easter food! The Hippie Fair is easy to get to; it only takes place on Sundays right outside metro General Osorio -Line 1- and it goes until 7 pm. Don't worry if you don't have... More

Located only a stones throw away from Ipanema Beach, the Hippy Market is the perfect place to spend a Sunday morning buying souvenirs. The central area is reserved for artists selling paintings and sculptures and many of them will be happy to chat away with you about how they made their art. The outer area is a labyrinth of clothes,... More
