My daughter and I really enjoyed the Hippie Market. Its really easy to get to - right next to the General Orsorio metro stop in Ipanema. She bought quite a few items, mainly jewellery. There were lots of well priced pendants, earrings, handmade silver jewellery, leather shoes, painted bottles and many other interesting clothing, homewares, artworks and other things as... More

Pretty nice market for buying souvenirs. It´s near copacabana, only 10 minutes by foot. I bought 2 very nice paintings there.

i heard said this was a good way to see some local artisan work with a hippie flavour to it, there was some nice works of art from locals and usual trinkets and bracelets etc. but i wouldn't recommend as a must do on your trip. The stroll along Copacabana and Ipenama on the Sunday to get to the market... More

Spend a entire morning here? Maybe an hour or two at most, unless you like looking at dozens of vendors with mostly the same stuff. Literally ten stalls in a row with the same or similar leather goods. Bought two "hand crafted" incense burners as gifts for people. Both were on pieces shortly after we got home. Embarrassing, they weren't... More

This is a fun way to spend a morning on a nice day. Lots of souvenirs, some food, and close to Ipanema beach. I'm glad we went, I found a cute necklace and other souvenirs for us and family. Lots of art too, if that's your thing.

I bought a stone carved bird at the souvenir shop at Sugarloaf for R $120, found the same thing there for $20. There's tons of cool stuff and local artists. Most of it dirt cheap!

This market is placed on the square near the Ipanema beach and is open only during Sundays. This is one of the best places to buy your souvenirs from Rio for really really good prices (I was a little bit surprised that the prices in vendors that I visited were fixed - no bargaining). You can buy hear magnets, paintings,... More

The Sunday market should certainly be on every itinerary, there are a lot of things on sale here for all kinds of people, with a few regular art/paintings to some very beautiful artisan leather painting by a sweet lady called Mari Hermann. There were stalls that sold the regular touristy t-shirts, magnets, paraphernalia, souvenirs of Rio and Brazil. Also, one... More

The Hippie Market located in Ipanema is a very nice walk every Sunday during the day. You can find lots of souvenirs, good paintings, nice accessories and if you like spicy food, you can try some " food from Bahia" located in every corner of the square. Be always aware of the pickpockets and enjoy the location. Dont't forget to... More
