I went to the jardim botanico based on the recommendation on lonely planet's guide. Amazing place!!! It's like an oasis in Rio, you don't hear cars passing by. It has an unique tranquility. The garden is bigger than I thought so it took me like 3 or 4 hours walking inside but I couldn't finish the entire garden, may be... More

I have seen better places but it's very inexpensive and a good way to kill a few hours. Not the greatest in terms of what you will see but a nice walk.

A wonderful tranquil natural place to spend a few hours wandering. A great break from the buzz of the city. Very special.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Easy access by bus and not expensive to enter. A walk around the lake beforehand is also interesting, a bit of a distance but if you want to get away from the crowds it is a little more peaceful. Many families around on the weekend, others times not many people.

The Jardim Botanico was a very pleasant afternoon experience in Rio. We enjoyed strolling the lush property and an absolute highlight was the free roaming Capuchin monkeys and marmosets. The gardens are expansive so be prepared to walk a good distance and I'd show up hydrated; several of the refreshment stands were not operational on our visit.

A day walking inside the garden makes you feeling good Let you wander into its driveway between trees of all species. Better to visit a the end of your trip to go back home peacefully!

A must go program if you are in Rio de Janeiro for - at least - 3 days. The Jardim Botanico has one of the largest collection of species from all over the world. The highlights are: the orchidary (special during the exhibition of flowers, once every six months), the bromeliad greenhouse (with its exotic species), the Imperial palms alley... More

Great place to visit and relax. Easy access by bus. You can see monkeys in the trees, the smalls rivers around the park and some exposition. Visit the gift shop (the best in Rio to buy souvenirs).

This was one of our favorite places in Rio, cheap and lots of great paths for walking, fountains, a japanese garden and walks with nice views of the Corcovado statue. The carnivorous plants, orchid house and even better Bromeliad house are really great. We also saw wild toucans and monkeys. A really nice way to spend a few hours and... More

This garden is en excellent way to relax in Rio. It is well cared for, and the tropical species are beautiful to look at. Take some snacks and wander around in the morning for best bird watching time.
