This visit was disappointing. Lots of trees but hardly any animals. We saw one monkey! No tucans at all.

A quiet oasis in a busy city, the botanical gardens were relaxing and had plenty of plant life to enthuse over. The orchid house and bromeliads house were outstanding.

We visit Rio every two years to see family and a stop at the Botanical Gardens has become a tradition. We can easily spend the whole day there. We usually take the bus, and all buses that says 'Jockey' on top will stop there. Bus routes number 409, 124 and 416 will stop pretty close to the gate. There are... More

My husband and I booked an open jeep tour through our hotel, the Windsor Excelsior. It combined a trip to the botanical gardens with a trip to the forest surrounding Rio. Both were beautiful with lots of lush, tropical foliage. Our guide Claudia was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. I would recommend this tour.

Temperatures were warm - not too buggy. Spent about 2 1/2 hours inside. Lucky too see a few capuchins and marmosets along with interesting birdlife Great botanical gardens. Interesting plants and walkways. If you arrive right when the gardens - the wildlife is still easy to spot

Good to spend one to two hours in this magnificent place. Admissions are 9 Brazilian for adults and children above the age of seven. You can let your kids play at the playground inside while you relax watching the spectacular garden.

If you're spending more than a couple of days the Jardim is worth a visit. Beautifully manicured gardens and sculptures interspersed with huge rainforest trees. Monkeys and beautiful birds abound!
