The botanical gardens in RIo is a very beautiful and calm place to visit. The gardens are wonderful and the orchidarium is fantastic. You also have some really nice views of Corcovado in the gardens. Go here if you want some peace and quite but also if you like flowers. The place is lovely.

We looked at getting to this place after some suggestions by the locals, it was like an oasis in the middle of the city. the best part about it though was the walk there, passing the polo club and seeing some of the best graffiti I've ever seen!

You can spend hours in this park, if you bring enough drinking! I did not know that this park was so large that it was! So I went just a small part of it. This park is a very popular park for young photographers! So it you're going to see a lot of, if it's a nice day. Got to... More

I don't know why this garden is not more heavily promoted, it is amazing. There were monkeys that came to my table at the snack bar and we saw several marmosets and beautiful birds. Some flowers are seasonal, like the rose gardens and the orchids but I have never seen anything like the rows of majestic palm trees near the... More

This is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Rio. It's very calm, the rivulets crossing the park are lovely, it's full of interesting plants , the orchidarium is wonderful. Children love it too, their playground is a big sucess. One can have one of the most stunning views of the Corcovado in the gardens. If you visit... More

It was really good to see the botanical gardens in Rio, and the gardens themselves were really nice. A good place to spend a few hours chilling out. It's not the biggest you have ever been too, but you will appreciate it when you've been. Stop by on your way up Tijuca. Nice.

If you can spare a couple of hours, I highly recommend the gardens. They're beautiful and extremely well maintained. There's numerous sections covering just about anything that's of interest (palm groves, medicinal plants, Amazon, kids playground, etc.). You could easily spend a day there, but if you walk at a fast paced you can at least see everything in 1-2... More

The garden is a very calm place to get away from the noise that surrounds you when walking in Rio. The only downfall is the lack of information and maps when you enter the garden. Anyway is a good place to spend a couple of quiet hours and take very nice photos. Good also for connaisseurs of Botany.

When you see Brazil on film, our country is always shown as a huge rainforest full of nature and somehow untouched. If you are disappointed with the cities you found out, you should really try the Botanical Garden in Rio. It was planned and developed during the Imperial era and is an amazing collection of the most beautiful Brazilian species.... More
