I've read some of the bad reviews, I don't think people get this place - it was 7 Reals to get in - just under £2, and free for locals & older people ( all the usual) - got a paper guide in English, was lovely walking around the site - ok, nothing blows you away but it was so... More

Its a great way to spend a way on a cloudy day. you will need about 2-3 hours to properly enjoy it. Some good selection of unusual trees and flowers. You will also see a lot of monkeys! Pleasant visit throughout.

Love it! it's incredible how in a crazy city as Rio you can still find some peace and get in touch with the trees and the lovely animals that live there. If you are in Rio you should go, at first I didn't want to go but I'm glad I changed my mind :)

The rose garden had 1 rose bush! Pleasant place but does not compare to other magnificent city gardens elsewhere.

The Jardim Botânico is located at the Jardim Botânico district in the "Zona Sul" of Rio de Janeiro, close to Lagoa Rodrigo. The Garden shows the diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. The park lies at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain, and contains more than 6,000 different species of tropical and subtropical plants and trees. The access was easy... More

Great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Rio. A small fee for tourists to enter, free for residents. It is amazing how quiet and peaceful the garden is. There is a great variety of trees and plants, and while we were there we seen parrots/parakeets and humming birds. A great place to relax

The gardens are interesting for all who are interested in exotic plants. The staff is keeping the gardens in good shape. So take your time and stroll through the area

If you're in Rio for more than a flying visit, the Botanical Gardens are well worth a trip. There is a small art school inside which sometimes displays the artwork of its students. The artwork we saw was just as impressive as the gardens itself. It is possibly one of the best places to spot monkeys in their natural habitat.... More

Jardim Botanico is a major attraction in Rio de Janeiro: it is located in the Jardim Botanico district, close to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and the Hippodromme, a few blocks from Gavea district and not far from Leblon district, where there are fine restaurants and places to stroll. Jardim Botanico has a variety of plants not only from Brazil but... More

I have been visiting the Botanical Garden since childhood. Right in the heart of Rio's south zone, it is a wonderful mix of rainforest anf d gardens, huge, but extremely well kept, clean and peacefull. All for less than USD 3.
