Out of season it is just an average garden. There are many trees from all over the world. The ponds and walkways are ver nice and fit in with the setting. Turtles and bats are there too

If you are after something away from the bustle of the city then this place is definitely for you. I spent a couple of hours first thing in the morning here just wandering in and out of the plants and trees. It was great to have some me time away from people and just aimlessly wander. The sun coming through... More

One of the nicest places to visit in the world. Peaceful and quiet Tropical Forest in the middle of a city. Plan to spend hours walking the various paths in the park and don't forget to bring your camera.

This is a peaceful and lovely place to escape for a few hours if the city is overwhelming you! Beautiful long rows of very old Royal Palms, nice restaurant to have have a bit and rest after strolling in the gardens

Rio is such a beautiful city with nature at every turn, but it is worth taking an hour to visit the Botanical Garden if you can spare the time. Established around 1805 when the Portuguese king had to bolt Europe thanks to Napoleon's shenanigans, one really gets a sense of majesty walking through the park. It was set up as... More

This review is from a non-garden kind of guy. My wife really wanted to visit, so we did. I can't say that I was thrilled with the visit, but the gardens are very nice. It's like central park...a huge natural resource in the middle of a bustling city. Worth an hour or two if you're into this type of thing...or... More

We loved our visit to the botanical gardens. The main fountain is amazing and the lovely paths lined with all types of trees is just stunning. Bring your camera - there's so much to photograph! We saw sweet little monkeys in the trees and lots of interesting birds. Definitely worth the 15-20 min cab ride from the beaches.

The firsts days we spent in Rio were cloudy so we had to find other options, so we saw good reviews and decided to go. Is cheap, only 6 reales and it is a nice walk with a lovely environment, when we went the orquids and the insectivorous plants were not on exhibit . A little disapointment.

Absolutely beautiful. Big enough to spend a few hours there. A great way to escape the crowdedness of the city and find some peaceful time and space.
