I loved this huge National Forest in the middle of the city. Beautiful waterfalls, great look out points, and a really fun indoor/outdoor restaurant,La Forestre, or something like that. We saw monkeys, toucans, and some handgliding spots. wonderful.

It is a fun drive up to the Chinese Vista to see the historic pagoda and take in the views. The pagoda was under restoration when I was there. Lots of people seemed to arrive on foot or bicycle - that would be a good workout!

We did the Tijuca Express HIke with Jungle Me and really enjoyed it. Our guide pointed out all sorts of flora and fauna and the views from Pedro Bonita were terrific.

A trip to Tijuca National Park is well worth the visit! I took a trekking tour with Jungle Me to the Tijuca peaks where the views are amazing of Rio. We drove through Tijuca National Park on our way out of Rio. It was a very rainy day and many of the views were obscured but they would have been fabulous. I felt bad for some of the people on tours in open sided jeeps getting soaked. The sites were beautiful and the waterfalls and rainforest were definitely worth seeing.... More
