I went hang-gliding at the peak of the Tijuca national park mountains. I highly recommend going if your in Brasil and have a good sense for adventure. More

The Tijuca Park, situated in the middle of a city of perhaps 15 million people, forming the back ground to nearly everybody's home is remarkable. The drives are interesting in themselves with great views but the walks from the various parking spots, along the ridges to the summits, particularly the Pico da Tijuca should not be missed. Cycling around the... More

If you are not travelling on to see the rest of Brazil then seeing at least some rainforest, albeit in the middle of the big city, really is worth while. On top of that Tijuca is a very realxing and tranquil place. Definitely worth a trip. More

If you have to ride with the tarp on the Jeep, skip this ride. You will stop at a couple of place for photo ops, but your time would be better spent at Christ the Redeemer or Sugar Loaf. There is a small building which displays pictures of what inhabits the area, but we seen no live inhabitants. The hike... More

This was one stop on a guided tour. Our guide helped us understand the park. Without the guide, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. More

A very nice area for a stroll in the nature, nice views of the beaches, the Sugar Leaf and the Cristo Rey. We made it in a jeep tour. More

This park was beautiful. I was lucky to be staying with friends that lived a quick drive from the park. I was most impressed by the waterfall and the lush ponds with trees growing out of the water. This park is worth visiting as that it is the largest urban park in the world, and can be incorporated with your... More

Rio can be overwhelming and it's nice to have a forest so near to enjoy and escape the city. There are nice hikes, waterfalls, views and a couple of restaurants to enjoy. Very rustic style though. You can do tours or explore on your own. Don't forget bug spray! More

If you want to try something different from the tipical tourist, give yourself the opportunity to visit Tijuca National Park. Try to do it with a local on Sunday where you will meet local going with children to rest. More
