I viewed the bridge from the ferry crossing from Rio to Niteroi and the bridge is pretty darn impressive. It is sooo long! You cannot access the bridge by foot. But can appreciate it from the ferry.

Traffic can be a nightmare in Rio these days, so drive over the bridge during the middle of the day. It is a nice view, but note that there is a toll at the other end. Also, if you accidentally enter the bridge ramp, there is no turn around. If traffic is bad, you may be a very long time... More

This bridge takes you from point A to point B, or vice versa. Better than swimming, but more fun to take the ferry.

To go to Niteroi by car, it is the easiest way. But be aware of traffic. Some people may drive dangerously. traffic jams are frequent.

I took a ferry one way across the sea and had lunch on the other side of Rio. On the way back, I took a bus which goes right on the bridge. A really long bridge...I beleive it might be one of the longest. Nice experience.

A huge and functional monument, one of the biggest urban bridges in the world. It is not possible to be done by walking (about 15km and it is forbitten), but worth the crossing by car when going to Buzios or Niteroi.
