The Portuguese Royal Cabinet of Reading is a centenary building dedicated to those who love reading. It also has a beautiful Portuguese architecture. Don't miss it!

If you like books, you will never forget this place. One of the most beautiful libraries in the world, just a five-minute walk from the Carioca metro station in Río.

Gorgeous! One of the best attraction in downtown. This building have more than 100 years and their interior preservation is praiseworthy. Not just a beatiful building. They have the biggest collection of portuguese books outside Portugal. Don't be afraid of visit here. You will not regret.

This place houses the biggest collection of Portuguese books outside Portugal, and it exists since the end of the 19th century inside a fantastic building under the Manueline style, so popular in Portugal. Besides the building and the fantastic room where all the books sit, one can be amazed by the thousand of old books, as well as the silent... More

Lovely quiet cool place in the heart of busy Rio :-) Antique building with splendid interior in collonial style. Unfortunately, we cannot read in Portuguese, otherwise we would stay there for hours...

This is not your whole-afternoon-in-family adventure but rather a quick jaunt where you check in and out in 15 min. The place is absolutely wonderful and feels like magic. You cannot touch the books but holy smokes this place has an old soul in it. You can just feel the place has something ancient-wisdom and as others have said, you'd... More

The place is not prepared to be a touristic spot, its an ordinary library, but its gorgeous. Its a shame there is very little propaganda on it, because its such an important place to the brazilian history. I wish there were tours or guides there so we would know better its magnitude.

This was my favourite single building in Rio. You will not fail to be amazed by this beautiful library. It's like Hogwarts and Dickensian England rolled into one. If you are in the centre of the city, make sure you find time to visit. You will not be disappointed

This is a typical Portuguese Colonial Architecture style building in Rio. Well maintained along the years, this place deserves a closer look of any visitors in Rio.

Well I'm no Harry Potter fan as a few of the reviewers seem to be, but I'm sure a fan of this small library. Real beauty.
