This little beach is south on Rio de Janeiro, after recreio de banderiantes. Is a little surfbeach with some bars on the street. Perfect place to try to surf

It took me about 45 minutes to get there from Barra da Tijuca. When I got there the beach was crowded, and its hell to park here. The carioca drivers have no education, so be prepared for war on wheels. I regret going here, should I've stayed in Barra da Tijuca's beach, also crowded

This beach is a bit far from Copacabana and downtown Rio, but it is worth it. It has great waves to swim in and a much less crowded beach. This is frequented by locals and just feels much safer than the main beaches.

Ok place, but far away. Bus ride not worth it, and parking very difficult. Maybe a bike or scooter is better. If you are a surfer go with friends as lifeguards not always on duty

We enjoyed the beach as it hardly has any tourists and local vendors to hound you..just local surfers. Go here if you want to just enjoy the scene and chill. The drive to Prainha was also wonderful and view is fantastic

Get up early in the morning so you can find a parking spot and see the sun rising at the amazing beach!

Take the small road from Recreio to Prainha, going west from Rio. You will find extraordinary scenic views. Prainha is the best point for those adicted to surfing. If you are not, take a look, anyway. It is a safe place during the daytime.

Very nice beach but very strong waves. Do not swim unless you are a really top notch ocean swimmer. Very strong currents.
