Prainha Beach is a secluded half-moon-shaped beach, bordered on each side by rocks and high cliffs. It is one of the best surfing spots in Rio, and may be reached by car or by the orange "surf bus" that passes through Copacabana and Ipanema.

Paradise place , a must see. Early drive before 8 am in the weekends otherwise no place. Keep it clean and bring your own food if you like. It is safe and very family friendly.

If you have no occasion to get to a really deserted beach far away from Rio and are sick of the crowds and the dirty water, this is your best bet. I was lucky to have a friend drive me with her car. Otherwise it is a bit of a drag to get to I am sure....But I absolutely loved... More

away from the touristic crowds - this is the opportunity to mix with locals and surfing enthusiasts. The beach is surrounded by small mountains and hills. Highly recommend if you want some authentic Rio beach experience.

What I enjoyed most about this beach is that it is not overrun with tourists like many of the other beaches in Rio. It is beautiful there and the people are wonderful. Must go early before entry is closed. Its the beach where locals go..I love it!

It's a hidden piece of beach located between the mountains. Very quiet and pleasant. There are a couple of food stands. There are beautiful girls.

It's hard to believe this place in technically in Rio, because it feels like another world. Nestled on a pretty cove in a protected nature reserve Prainha ("little beach" in Portuguese) is a lovely alternative to the massively crowded beaches that line downtown Rio de Janeiro (Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana). There are small huts that have a modest selection of food... More

Prainha is one of the most natural beaches in Rio. It is astonishingly beautiful, however there is no public transportation around and you may need to have a car to get there. However it worth it.

Prainha is a beautiful "little beach". It is different from other Rio beaches in that it is not immediately in front of highrise hotels and condos. Infrastructure at the park is very limited. They have restrooms and showers. Restrooms were filthy. Outdoor showers were all out of order except for one. Very nice outdoor Resteraunt that served really good food... More
