This beach is such a nice contrast to the big, sprawling, urban beaches of Copa and Ipanema. Come out here for a day and really experience this beach that is blessed with so much nature and some great waves for surfing!

I took Richard to Prainha beach today. It was the first time for him. He absolutely loved it. The weather was wonderful and the beach is SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful. It's far away, but it's worthy.

This beach was so beautiful and met all our expectations. It is about and hour from Rio and well worth the drive. We were one of three people at the beach. There are 360 degrees of spectacular views. The kids loved this beach and named it their favorite in Brazil. There is a lovely cafe overlooking the beach that serves... More

Having been to this beach and Ipanema, this is the one I would go to for a quieter time. We were able to rent an Umbrella and Chairs and they put them up for you and find you a great spot on the beach. Word of advice, do not buy anything form the vendors walking around. We were a group... More

Contrary to the most visited beaches in rio, this one is less crowded, making it a better option for weekends.

Great spot for kids to have fun. Waves not too bad. Wish we could have spent a little bit more time here.

It's an AWESOME beach with TERRIFIC landscapes when you're on the way. IMHO it's the most beautiful "carioca beach". This beach is surrounded by rainforests and imposing mountains. You need to get up early to visit the Prainha beach, because there are a few number of parking spots (and the easiest way to get there is by car) - this... More

If you have the time I highly recommend a trip to Prainha Beach south of Rio de Janeiro and past Barra da Tijuca. You'll feel like you've left the city behind and are wrapped in splendid and dramatic nature. There is also a nude beach here for the more daring.
