One of the most beautiful beaches of Rio. Great waves and a nive hiking uphill. Go early in the morning cause the beach is closes when packed!

Prainha is almost a private beach, a place for trend people, they also have a nudist beach if you are interesting one. Enjoy, it's absolutely beautiful.

This beach is one of the best in Rio. It feels wild and secluded, but at the same time has 2 vendors, umbrella and chair rental, showers, public restrooms and some vendors selling food and popsicle on the beach. There's also a restaurant at the end of the beach, on the way to Grumari. I went there on a week... More

Prainha, though packed at weekends, is one of the choices if you are tired of the Copacabana-Ipanema kind of beachs and would like a more quiet and natural beach... You'll have to drive all the way west of Rio's west zone, which on bad traffic days could take up to 3 hours, but it is well worth it.

It's far away and there is a lot of traffic to get there. Not much place to park. Wouldn't go alone nor in the afternoon, so you would come back late.

The beach is beautiful and relatively small - and very popular with surfers. If you go on a nice weekend be there early (before 8:30) or you'll find no parking spot (you need a car to get there). Once there make sure you visit the nature preserve (opens at 8) on the other side of the street and go up... More

Very beautiful beach, far from the crowd of other beaches in Rio. Nice waves for surfers and also a nice track into the forest and mountains at the back side of the beach.

it is hard to believe that such wild beach exists so close to the hectic beaches of Rio… it is great for surfing if you into that… and also to enjoy nature in a wild beach. use the opportunity to cross the next hill explore more wild beaches in the area.

If you are tired from the urban beaches in Rio, located in front of buidings and heavy traffic, this is your spot. No buildings or houses around, just the beach and forest. It can be crowded during weekends, but its very pretty anyway. No buses getting there, so you will need to rent a car or a taxi (but should... More

It's a long drive from Ipanema or Leblon and traffic is intense. This is way beyond Barra da Tijuca or Recreio dos Bandeirantes BUT when you get there, to Prainha I mean, you will LOVE the clean beach and the fantastic fish restaurant - char coaled catch from minutes before. LOVE Gerald Thomas
