This beach is stunning with clear water and interesting rock formations. There is a good restaurant at the very end of the beach. We drove all the way to the end and parked near the restaurant. The beach was less crowded here than towards the entrance, and we found it to be sublime. But the traffic is really awful on... More

Surfer's favourite site in Rio. A place where you can sense the presence of the Orixás. Far away from Copacabana, worth the trip!

What's amazing! this is one of the best beach we've been. It's a bit far from Rio but very well worth. This is pristine beach, not crowded and can do many activities. Swimming was great!

Grumari beach mantains its beauty as God criated, no human interventions . That is a preserved area. no buildings and its a quit place to relax and enjoy youself with a beach made specially for you. Note: except on weekends and holidays. It a bit far from the Ipanema and Copacabana area( around 40/50 minutes drive), but it is really... More

It is great to drive from rio, past barra and then go to Grumari. It is a beautiful coastal route. There are a lot of places to stop. Take pictures. Go for a swim. Enjoy. You can spend a whole day doing this. Grumari beach is very beautiful. Watch out for the staff at the parking place. They sometimes charge... More

I went in a hike with through the abroad program I was participating in, and the hike ended at a private beach in this area. The entire region is beautiful, and the hike featured all sorts of terrain. It was definitely not a hike for beginners. The beach we went to in the area was only accessible by foot, so... More

This is one of my favorite places to visit just outside the usual Rio hotspots: Grumari and Praia do Abrico! Best to rent a car (be sure to ask for automatic transmission, 90% rentals are stick shifts!), as taking bus out here would make a long day. But: wow, what a fantastic beach... Black Bar & Restaurant there has good... More

it's been a long time since grumari was a wild, out of hand place where you could enjoy nature. now it's more like 2 hours to get there, beach packed with people and two more hours to get back. try the remote beaches in pedra de guaratiba instead.

One of the best beaches in Rio for sure!! It's a bit far, for real travelers. To go back to Barra a good walk is needed....
