Nice beach outside of the city!

Really pretty beach outside of the city. Narrower shoreline than the beaches in Ipanema and Copa, but really lovely landscape around this beach.

In a busy day you need to get here early. But believe me - it is worth it!!! This beach is far from the south part of town (Ipanema and Copacabana) but it is in the middle of a preservation park and it is great! Very few tourists and a beach that is sought after by surfers! If you have... More

It is really not that hard to get there, maybe the drive is a bit long but still. If you're on a budget and don't want to take the taxi all the way there, take a bus 360 from Copacabana to Recreio and ask someone on the bus to tell you when you have to get off (at Posto 12,... More

What an amazing city! My coworker and I (2 female retired teachers from Kentucky) cashed in our airline award points and headed for a little R&R in Rio! We read all the travel guides and forums that warned against everything, but we went anyway, and we're SO glad that we did. We got our money exchanged at the Atlanta airport... More

The must do for a beach if you go to Rio and south of Rio. The landscape and the view are amazing, you can surf, there is few nice restaurants for beach food. you feel very out of the city in the middle of the jungle (if not on weekend)

This is a far away beach but it is worth getting there. It has white sand and emerald green water and is surrounded by untouched nature.

If you wake up early and want to enjoy nature, this beach is the best one. Reclusive, far from the most crowded beaches, if you get there before 8am you can park without stress, can enjoy the beach with some surfers. On the down side you won't find that many places to buy food and drinks, the sea is a... More

a hidden gem for the tourists, but not for the locals, since it is a good one hour drive from Ipanema. But once there, you will understand why the great things in life, may be a little far or hidden. Surrounded by mountains on 3 sides, and the ocean in the horizon, with pristine waters, great local foods served by... More

If you're looking for a secluded, non polluted beach in Rio, or close to the South Zone of Rio, then this is it: Grumari or Prainha as it's called is pure heaven. ENJOY LOVE Gerald
