This is a very nice beach, a little off the beaten path but if you have time and a car worth going. There are not as good options for food in the kiosks but still a very clean and nice beach

very cool place to go, specially during the week. One of the most beautiful beaches in Rio with few people around and a amazing resting reserve behind the beach. But you can go by car only.

Best beach in Rio, just a bit crowded on a hot sunny sunday, so try to be there before 11am because parking gets difficult after that sometimes.

Most people just get to the well-know touristic beaches (Copacabana, Ipanema, ...) but if you have a car don't miss going to Prainha and Grumari ... this is for locals, surfers and so on and they are real beaches. Well worth a trip to there.

We stayed in Copacabana a great beach but Grumari was the most beautiful, we had a hire car but you can get the BRT and a bus to it. Great for surfing and body boarding.

The beach is, depending on the traffic, at least an hour drive from Copacabana. The hours may be several hours and to spend that time in a car, with the traffic culture that exists, is not that you thought as the most pleasant. On top of the mountain there is a very good restaurant, Restaurante Point de Grumari, but it... More

This beach is very far from downtown and Copacabana, but its one of the best in town. Drive past Prainha to get there. Also good surf!

You will need a car to get here, but if you're in Rio and looking for a beautiful stretch of quiet beach not too far from where you're staying, this is the place. As a bonus, the water is a bit cleaner than Ipanema/Copacabana etc. There is also a great rustic seafood restaurant at the beginning of the beach.
