I hesitate to write too much about this place. The little neighborhood of Arpoador is situated in between Ipanema and Copacabana, but it's not the neighborhood that makes this place special. It's the rocky point on which locals go at sunrise and sunset, spreading their arms wide, greeting the sun during its passage, with a great view both east and... More

Being on Arpoador rock is very special and magical. The sensation of wonder as everyone gathers there at the end of the day is undescribable. The city´s natural beauty is unrivalled. There is nothing to dislike. Don´t get nervous when people mention crime. Everybody walks around with cameras and phones, watches and jewellry. There are enough policemen in Arpoador to... More

These are the only two reasons to go to Arpoador, but they're both worth it. Watching the locals catch waves in the afternoon while sitting on the rocks is a fun break from fighting off the salespeople on the beaches next door, and getting the best sunset in Rio once the afternoon fades away, without having to move locations, is... Aproador is on the point between two great beaches - Copacabana and Ipanema and is definitely the place to be at sunset. It can be very busy on the rocks but well worth the effort. A stroll along Copacabana is nice or alternatively into the sun at Ipanema.

IN THE HEART OF RIO, IPANEMA -REMEMBER THE SONG… THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA. Ipanema being the safest spot to be.. in rio..slow peace, yet vibrant, the waves are not huge but is the only place to surf in the heart of rio..in a wonderful cup de sac and lovely rocks to climb and enjoy the view…love IPANEMA...

A little bit crowded but eventually you will fins yourself a nice spot to enjoy the sunset. The place has a nice view and you can enjoy the sea breeze. One bad aspect is the vendors. They will also target this place and try to sell you whatever they have. This is the case for all of the beaches is... More

This is a great place to watch the sun go down and drink a beer! It's lovely to walk along Ipanema beach ending at Arpoador rock. There's a few drink sellers around and there's a nice breeze later on in the day. Beautiful views of the whole of Ipanema beach and Dois Irmaos mountain! Well worth a visit and great... More

Dont worry about the hype. You are a tourist and it is the most spectacular view at sunset. To my mind it typified everything one would expect of Rio. Wonderful.
