This area was really nice! It's a "College Town", with a noticeable Military presence due to some "Technical Training Schools". One of the safest/cleanest areas of Rio. From there you get access to "Pao de Azucar", and get to see some beautiful sunrises/sunsets...Muito Bom!

One of my favourite ways to escape the bustle of Flamengo and Botafogo is to simply walk along the waterside from the yacht club all the way to the fort. There are a couple of welcoming bars to grab a beer if you're thirsty - and spectacular panoramic views of the Rio skyline, or across the bay to Niteroi, every... More

The Urca is at the foot of the Sugar Loaf (Pao de Acucar). Worth the walk along the seaside walk for it is beautiful. Near Fort Sao Joao there is an oceanfront open air café/bar which serves the best "on the go" food.

This beautiful Bairo Rio has one of the most beautiful views of the bay of Guanabara and the main tourist spots in Rio. You can sit on the wall and enjoy the view , sipping a cold beer with pastel of shrimp and a good company and enjoy a perfect day in Rio de Janeiro.

Urca is very calm residential area on the water adjacent to Urca bay. Great for sunset photographs with the city and Redeemer state in the distance.

Somethings are nice in this old and very traditional neighborhood. Nice view of the bay, old houses, portuguese colonial N S do Brasil church. But could be more preserved. Lack of security in the evening.

There are a handful of things to do in Urca - the beach, bars, restaurants, and the tram to sugarloaf. It's a cute place to stroll around on a nice day.

You are already there, so why not walk in this beach. If you are brave enough you can also swim there. (Water is very cold) you will see some locals swimming. It's nice and you can rest and have a drink there.

Urca is a very nice place to have a drink at the seaside before the sunset. Small typical bar and cool village atmosphere.
