A beautiful exhibit space nicely situation in Gavea. The cafe was a nice surprise as well, serving up risotto and quiche that was far better than expected.

A modernist house, with contemporary or modern art exhibitions, nice café too! - a bit tricky to get there, you'll probably need to take 2 buses or a cab

This is a secret spot. Spend the afternoon at this place. Go to the cinema, take a coffee, read the news and back refreshed to home.

It is a very good visit because: a) it is the house of a banker, former minister of State and former ambassador in the USA; b) there are several art expositions; c) is free; d) it is a very beautiful place.

Instituto Moreira Salles is a beautiful and well maintained museum/"place to escape Rio". Well hidden away at the end of Gavea (towards Rocinha) it is absolutely worth a visit. The exhibitions was not even the true highlight, but rather the place itself with a great option to relax over a very nice lunch in the small cafe. Entrance was free.
