The menus are from six regional and historical cuisines such as Minas Gerais, Bahia, Amazonas, Cerrado. These are also the subject of our new book “The Brazilian Table” that have been nominated and a finalist at International book awards. The evening begins at 8:00 PM sharp and end about 11:30. We start by serving a caipirinha and Richard Roberts shows a unique way to make it. Next, guests are invited to gather around the stove to join or just watch the preparation of the dishes. Then we all sit at our decorated table and enjoy the four-course dinner we made together, with wine from Argentina or Chile. We end with coffee or mint tea and a tasting of aged cachaça. « less

What a fabulous evening we had with Yara & Richard! From the moment we were welcomed into their home, we began a journey to discover the influences of culture and tradition on the food of Brazil. Throughout the evening, Yara coached us through the creation of our meal, and Richard entertained us with stories, both historical and contemporary- he makes... More

I really enjoyed the evening with Yara and Richard and the other guests. As It was Bahia night and I had spent two weeks in Bahia, the food and the conversation built on what I had already learned and led into recognition of more Bahian influence during Carnaval in Rio, the following week. Spending time in their kitchen and their... More

The evening spent with Yara and Richard was definitely the highlight of my visit to Paraty, if not the highlight of my trip to Brazil. We were actively involved in every step of cooking our delicious dinner, which included a souffle - I had never cooked a souflle before and under Yara's expert guidance it turned out perfectly! But what... More

This friendly couple, the brazilian master chef and his husband, the french manager, offer a very interesting gourmet experience in their own house/restaurant, hosting you for a few hours while she cooks, teachs and tell some histories. Delicious, funny and very "interactive" experience. I do recomend! More

Yara and her husband Richard provide what, in our experience of travelling around the world, is a unique blend of the warmest of warm welcomes, trully informative cooking lessons (learning to cook as you CAN cook at home rather than excessively professional with gadgets and equipement you will not have in your own kitchen) and a non-stop commentary on life,... The evening was enjoyable and the conversation interesting. We learned little from the cooking class. The food was modest at best. Our entrée was Risotto. Yes, our main course was rice. If they paid more than 20R$ for all the ingredients of our meal, they paid too much. We paid 180R$ per person. Not a good value. More

The owners want to start by saying that we appreciate Trip advisor’s professionalism in giving us timely notice of this - our first - negative report, and the opportunity to respond here. This particular reviewer starts with the comment that the evening was enjoyable and the conversation interesting, and adds comments about modest food and “we” learned little. However, the... More

Richard and Yara are the most fabulous hosts. The food is wonderful, the house charming, the conversation as engaging as it is educational. Yara displayed the patience of a saint in teaching our kids (9 & 12), some great recipes. Cannot recommend highly enough. More

What a great evening we had! Yara and Richard were so welcoming and entertaining. They were full of knowledge and we chatted until all of a sudden the night was over. We must have enjoyed oursleves! We made Caipirinhas and a four course meal, with the best mousse I have ever eaten! Highly reccomended! More

My friend and I signed up for Yara's cooking class. It was a wonderful evening that started out with her husband preparing caprihinas. We learned about the history behind the food that we prepared. As Yara said, "if you want to learn the history of an area, look at the food that was served". By looking at the types of... More
