Would only really suggest going if you have time on your hands. We did so we walked the short distance from the historic area. Its a nice walk, the views are good and at the right time of day you can spot many different birds. However, the museum itself isn't that remarkable. There were two small sections to the museum,... A pleasant walk from the town center. About half an hour. Lovely views from the top which look out over the bay and the town. Very safe as there were 3 policemen stationed at various points on the windy path up to the fort. We didn't see in the small museum as it was closed on the day we went..

Building is nothing special, but the location is nice. There are nicer sights in the area, so this can be easily skipped without losing much. Bring insect repellant!

You must have your own thoughts and knowledge about it to embrace the location beauty. One must understand that this had once been the most important and one of the strongest defences in Brazil to protect all the gold... More

Paraty is trying to be recognized as UNESCO world heritage site, so its authorities should care about the conditions of its historical sites, such as this beautiful Fort. Amazing views from its top as well.
