This is a must-go place! View is incredible!

This place has one of the best views I've seen in Brazil. To go there, you should get a car or a bus to the village of Paraty-Mirim and from there hire a boat to the Mamangua Bay (Saco do Mamangua). Ask for the boat driver that you want to go to the sugarloaf. Try to bargain!!!!!!! After 10-15min boat... More

Found this on trip advisor. Wanted to do it but didn't want to pay $75 to do it on a tour. It's perfectly possible alone. I found another guy from my hostel who wanted to go (the more, the cheaper). Took the bus from Paraty bus station to Paraty Mirim (R$3.50) then haggled with a speedboat driver to take us... More

The trail is quite exhausting as it goes straight up, there are no serpentines and it was really hot! Make sure to take enough water and maybe an energy bar or something to eat before going down. I think it took us almost an hour but it's well worth it. The views from there are just breathtaking!

It's so beautiful, the view is amazing. If you want to avoid line up go on SUNDAY or any religuis holiday ... We went on Sunday and the lines were less than normal. You still had to wait but at least it was manageable.

Dang, I wish I could give this hike 10 round circle dots of trip advisor liking. It's pretty amazing. We did it after it had been raining the days before so it was a little slippery in places , but the hike was good, got our hearts pumping for sure. The views from the top are pretty breathtaking, especially on... More

After spending 6 days in Rio celebrating carnival my wife and I thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise and complete this hike. We did the hike mid February and what was 38C weather. What can I say, the trek up was a bit challenging but the guides are great. Take your time, no need to... More

Having only made contact with him a couple of days before, I was really glad that Michael of Paraty Explorer was able to accommodate our wish to climb the Pico do Mamangua. Being the idiots that we are we ended up doing it in temperatures of 38º-39ºC (mad dogs and Englishmen, etc.) which although being a little challenging at times... More

After a 40 min bus ride down rough roads, then a boat ride to get to the small village at the base of this peak a group of 60ish Canadian adults started the climb. We were with Michael of Paraty tours , who provided encouragement without pushing us along. Although two of the five in the group had to turn... More

My father climbed this at 67 years old - but the photos are amazing and he had a fantastic time. Really recommend you do this if you have the time. Mamangua is beautiful.

We went up to the top, it takes about 1-hour climbing and something less to come back. If someone don't feel like hiking can wait in the nice beach at the bottom where there is also a simple sort of restaurant with good food. The climb is beautiful all within the rainforest, quite steep, not to be done after rain.... More
