Lopes Mendes is a very long beach in Ilha Grande with an untouched scenery. Getting to this place from Abraão is an adventure by itself with a trail of about 2:30h. All the walk just increases the expectations, which I promise won't be in vain.

One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited in my life, the sand is so fine and powdery. Really clean and lots of space to sit, would recommend using the boat to get there unless you fancy the 3 hour trek! Really enjoyed chilling out, definitely worth a visit.

Words do not do this beach justice. It was so worth the hike across the island and boat ride back to get here. The water was unreal, and the sand was stunning. There is basically nothing on the beach, as far as restaurants/businesses, but there are locals selling drinks and sandwiches. I loved how non-commercialized it is, which is tough... More

This beach has the most amazing sand. My feet felt like they were walking on flour. Also this beach has no permanent buildings making it feel completely untouched. Though there are people with coolers there selling beer and some food. So a perfect fit. The water is beautiful and the hike to get there is relatively simple, only took about... More

I know the beach is legendary and yes the sand is very thin and beautiful but many other beaches rival this one. Also it is very exposed to the wind so there is excellent surfing but swimming might not be an option. Neither of these things is a problem per se but you might as well adjust your expectations That... More

You can hike to Lopes Mendes in about 2 1/2 hours from downtown, it's not too strenuous and actually a very fun hike (you stop by a couple of other beaches too). At the beach you can rent surfboards (R$ 40 per hour), bodyboards (R$ 15 per hour), paddleboards, etc and there are also a few stands to buy food.... More
