This is a nice jungle hike to a remote, wild beach surrounded by mountains. We saw and heard a number of howler monkeys on the way. The hike is a bit steep in places, but not too difficult if the trail is dry. The beach is on the ocean side of the island, so there are some nice waves. I... More

We walked here from Abrooa. At first we thought we were mad and should have gotten the boat for 20reals but actually it was well worth doing the walk. The first hill is quite steep and you are walking uphill for quite a while through the jungle but it's enjoyable after that as it gets easier from then on. You... More

What I like the most is that it´s pretty wild - you can only reach this beach by walking or boat. So don´t expect infrastructure like bathrooms, bars, because there´s nothing there, apart from some vendors. Another hightlight is that it´s public and no resorts or hotels on the beach, just plants!! But I thought it would be quite empty... More

the sea is very clean with the perfect waves. beach is big enough for lots of tourists to visit and still feel like it is empty. some shade from the trees at the back. no boats can come in to this bay so you have to walk about 20minutes through the jungle before you get to the beach but it... Hiking from Vila do Abraao took us just over 3 hours with short water breaks and some stops for photos. It is a really enjoyable hike but sometimes tough in the heat, humidity and sometimes steep terrain. Overall it's very doable (even in flip-flops!) At the end of the hike you are rewarded with the stunning Lopes beach, beautiful soft... More

I hiked from Vila do Abraão all the way to Lopes Mendes. It is quite a long hike with quite a lot of elevation gain, so be prepared physically for it and bring lots of water. The beach itself is amazing, and the other beaches on the way there are also great. There are also some breathtaking views from the... More

This is probably the best thing to do in all of Ilha Grande. The beach is protected, so there are no facilities there, and boats can not dock there. To get there, you either do a very long and difficult hike from from town or you take a water taxi and then a smaller (but still steep) hike to the... More

Very nice beach though the missus prefers calmer waters and this one has (a few) waves and also a cross-current. But deserves reputation - even if I though Dois Rios was just as nice in actual fact.

Doesn't matter how long are you going to be in this area, at least you must stop at this beach ( even for a day trip).
