Truly amazing beach. The white sand and turquoise water will have you speechless. We hiked to Lopes Mendes from Vila do Abraao. The path is pretty tough sometimes and it is not recommended to do it in flip flops and with a towel around your neck. We spent 2 sweaty hours each way and were pretty sore once we got... More

we only spent a few hours here but I wish we could have spent a week ! the place is just perfect , like a movie beach .... tip: go to to far left of the beach , as the sea life is spectacular there with fish and turtles easy to spot during snorkeling.

probably because it was a holiday, but our experience was not of solitude (which many reviews mention). in general great clean beach, soft sand, clean water. However rather difficult to swim due to high waves, but still fun. Not the most beautiful beach in the world, but best on the island.

I Would totally recommend the hike to Lopes Mendes beach. It took us 2hrs there, and just over 2hrs to return to the main port, as its very much uphill at least half of the way back. Walking through the rainforest was beautiful, and seeing the beaches along the way. Wear proper footwear, such as sneakers! Hiking shoes aren't a... More

Worth doing the 2 hour hike through the jungle, you can always get a taxi boat back if you don't fancy hiking back :)

Fantastic beach, few people, no construction. Can be reached by walking through the djungle. At the beach you can by drinks and some snacks, but no umbrellas etc. It is really a prestine and undeveloped piece of paradise. Bring sunscreen! The trees will offer plenty of shadow, if you wish. There are lifeguards on duty, and while i was there... More

Personally I thought the two hour trek through the jungle to get to the beach was a better experience than the beach itself. Coming from Australia we have hundreds of cleaner, better quality beaches than this. Oh and my wife nearly drowned there so if you are not a strong swimmer best to stay close to the shore as there... To go to Lopez Mendez beach you either do a two hour trekking up and down the mountain or you take a boat. The boat to Lopez Mendes from Abraao, (the main village) does not actually go to Lopez Mendes beach. We did not know that. After forty five minutes the boat let us off at the Pouso beach then... Positives - this place is absolute paradise. Silicon sand, long beach, amazing views and cheap to get to from the main port on Ilha Grande. Downsides- the areas just behind the beach are full of rubbish. As is the end of beach. So disappointing for somewhere so nice. Other things to note - wear trainers for the mini joke there.... More

This is the best beach of the world! ranked somewhere like 1-10 in the world! The sand feels like snow, only its hot and "sandy", and the view!! holy s*** the view!
