One of my favourite beaches that I have ever been to. It is kept very clean and the water is crystal clear, no boats are allowed in the water around the beach so you must get a taxi boat to the neighbouring beach and walk for about 10-15mins to reach lopes mendes. Although would recommend trecking to the beach rather... More

Amazing hike, mostly shade, couple beaches on the way from Abraao to Lopes Mendes. On the first beach stop there is Prato Feito (rice, beans, chicken or fish for 20 reais). It's good to take more snacks and lots of water as there isn't much to buy around.

We hiked to this beach and it's quite a tricky hike if you're not a hiker butI thoroughly enjoyed it and it was well worth it. The beach, sea and rocks when you get there are beautiful. When we were there, there weren't many amenities on the beach just one man selling cold drinks from a little cart. There's also... More

An all right beach. Not unlike many in Rio de Janeiro's coast line. Specially the ones in Região dos Lagos.

We took the 2.5 hour hike to get to this isolated beach and it was well worth the sweat. You can get there by boat and hike for the last part, but we decided on hiking all the way - it seemed like we hiked 2 hours uphill all the way! Bring lots of water and bring a good pair... More

We got up early and hiked to the beach from Abrao. The signs don't lie - at a fairly active pace it still took us best part of 2.5 hours to get there. However, not only do you pass some lovely beaches on the way, but arriving at Lopes Mendes is all the more special afterwards. The sand is almost... More

This is why you should go to Ilha Grande. Of course there are many other things like walking in the forest, but this beach is definitely a right candidate to be among the best beaches of the world. It reminded me the beaches in the Seychelles: white sand as soft and thin as flour, cristal clear water (with beautiful waves,... More

This is the much talked about beach of the island and you can see why! It's a bit of a trek even after getting off the boat for the 20 minutes or so hike to it. Talcum powder sand along a long stretch of the shore with lots of natural shade. Heaven!

Actually came here back in 2015 but only got round to reviewing it now. Decided to walk here because I don't like boats. Wasn't easy and some insects but worth every step. We were so tired when we got here that we slept the two hours we were there before having to walk back before it got dark but impressed... More
