a little walk from the landing place for the escunas, but well worth the hiking. Calm and super clean water. water level goes down very slowly which allows for safe beach body surfing, swimming, etc. Stay within the safe area indication flags.

We hiked to the beach from Abraao, which takes at least 2 hours and is not to be taken lightly. I was glad we wore sneakers rather than flip flops. The bonus of the hike is elevated views and other beaches on the way to Lopes Mendes. We stopped at Praia das Palmas for a fresh juice and water refill... More

Lopes Mendes Beach was very nice however if you are pushed for time Ilha Grande's other private beaches have just as much if not even more to offer. Cheaper to go around and explore them!

Very nice long quiet beach, with white sand and blue water, Felt a bit like paradise. The trek from the town made it much more rewarding when relaxing on the beach

We walked from Abraao, through the jungle. Took about 3hrs. It is hard going as its nearly all hills but the rewards are well worth it. I would recommend setting off nice and early and then getting a water taxi back later on.

Travelled by boat to Lopez Mendes beach and after arriving at the pier walked the short distance through the rainforest to the beach itself. The setting is just beautiful, with clear water, soft sand and trees behind the beach. There are a few people selling juice and crisps and you can rent a boogie board too. Would recommend taking a... By the time you get there after the trek, you are ready to jump into the water... Excellent to be in touch with nature for a day alone or with your partner. No one was there when I visited, I probably saw not even 10 persons in this huge beach. The trek makes it more interesting...Don't forget that no boats... More

It is a 3 hour trek one way to Lopes Mendes from Abraao (with loads of photography pit stops and a snooze) but it is worth the sweat and the ant bites. There are two other beaches on the way where you can stop and have a dip in the sea and cool down. The views from the top of... More

A beautiful spot to chill out and relax. There are no facilities (toilets) here, and just one person selling some drinks and snacks, so it's a good idea to bring a picnic with you. Accessible either via a boat ride and a short walk 15 minute walk over a hill, or a longer hike of around 1.5 hours in from... More
