Know that Lake buried one of the wonders of the world? The "7 Quedas" lie beneath the waters. Waters that drowned thousands of monkeys, jaguars, trees ... The environmental damage it may be necessary for industrial development but it is a real shame.

Very nicely build and huge structure worth every penny that was spent on it. It was also very organised and you can feel the power on it.

Itaipu Lake is a very calm place, but somehow far from any other attraction. There is a lot of nature and the water is not cold.

One wonders about the multi-talented geniuses that walk this planet. Everything seem to be in place to harness this flow of water to generate electricity to service the country.

It's easy to see why the Brazilians are so proud of this dam. It's a huge feat of engineering. But the scale of the project makes you question what happened to all the people who must have lived in the area when they flooded such a huge area to create the dam. It's great though that 100% of Paraguay's electicity... More

Beautiful place, it is really incredible. So nice places. You have everything there: clean bathrooms, great (and cheap) food, a cinema. Guided tours are in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Very good attention. So easy to access.

One of the largest man-made lakes in the world, the Itaipu lake impresses one at first sight. Take a boat tour and you will not regret.

I know the itaipu company have done a lot of good with the profits from thedam. I appreciate all the facts about how much forest has been preserved, however it would have been nice to get balanced information. I also wanted to know how many towns were flooded, whether there were any casualties when the resevoir filled quicker due to... More
