We stayed in Ashland and stopped in for something to do. There is a little nature museum and trails to hike. It was extremely hot outside so we didn't do the trails. There is an observation deck so we could see all the trails from above. They looked real nice and easy to walk. There's a gift shop and nature... More

A Wisconsin treasure. Perfect for all ages, lots of interactive information centers. This is a prime example of Wisconsin's commitment to its natural resources and the history and profiles of the visionaries in our state that made it happen. The center is beautiful and totally worth the visit.

Awesome place to stop, lots of information and the observation deck was cool. Run by the National Park Service, you can get your NPS passport stamped here.

We came by here by accident and wound up staying to look at the many exhibits. Appeared to be many opportunities for hands on activities for kids. Very friendly staff.

Traveling up to Bayfield/Ashland area is something I make a point of doing every year and the NGLVC is a place that is a must stop for me. First the building is new and beautiful on the inside. Three stories; the first has displays and activies for younger kids along with an outdoor patio to sit and enjoy nature. The... More

This visitor center is a joint effort of several Federal Agencies. Admission is free. It provides a wealth of information on Lake Superior, its flora and fauna. The staff seemed very well informed. Plan on spending half an hour to an hour. Touring the outside natural areas could easily add another hour. From observation kids ~10+ found the displays interesting... More

Wonderful nature center with a beautiful mural depicting the evolution of the area. Observatory shouldn't be missed. Didn't have enough time to enjoy much walking. Maybe next time!

Awesome place to go... really made the trip! Found it by following the signs - nice nature walk area and a 5 story observation deck in the center. It's free to go look at the historical exhibits. Nice gift shop too. Highly knowledgeble staff - had tons of brochures and local tips.
