This visitor center is filled with information and I found it to be most helpful as we explored the area around the Apostle Islands. There are a lot of interactive displays and the information about the glaciers was fascinating. The grounds are well kept and the movie about the shipwrecks in Lake Superior were very interesting!

This is a neat stop if you are in Ashland and really want to learn about Lake Superior and the surrounding area. The center is fairly large with lots of displays and history and exhibits. The view from the top is very nice and they have telescopes you can see lighthouses on the lake. There is a nature trail like... More

This is a fantastic place at which to stop to learn about the local history. We truly enjoyed it. It is a beautiful building and grounds, and interesting exhibits. We ended up spending an hour here and could have spent more time.

First visit here; wonderful introduction to this area of Wisconsin. Observation deck, very nice gift shop, helpful folks and good exhibits make this a worthwhile stop. There is also a 3/4 mile trail to walk, if you or the little ones want to stretch your legs. Loved it!

Loved the nature trail showing you what the northern region was all about. It's a nice place to start if you're going up to Washburn and Bayfield along Lake Superior.

We were drawn to the visitor's center because in the brochures it looked big, nice, and the price was right (free). There was lots of information about the history of the region, and was interactive enough to hold my kids' attention. We chose to donate via free will offering because it would've been worth an admission fee.

We only had about an hour but both parents and kids enjoyed the exhibits and a quick hike. Definitely recommend this stop. And for free, you can't beat the price.

We love the Visitor Center. They have a nice little museum and we love the long walking trail they have. They host lots of community events and are a great resource for area homeschoolers. It is also the location of one of Ashland's murals.
