When we are in the area we always hit the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. The kids usually do a scavenger hunt and get some cool prizes while learning. This year we hit Smokey's 70th birthday party. So there were even more games and prizes along with cake. The place is very informative, clean, and the staff is always very... More

We stopped here mainly because it was a rainy monday and not much to do in the area inside. This was an excellent experience and we cant recommend it highly enough for anyone. We watched short films on a variety of subjects having to do with the area from shipwrecks to local wildlife to the history of the early settlers.... More

Lovely facility, professional staff and displays of the Northern Great Lakes geology, biology and animals of the region with a lovely little gift shop, too. This beautiful building rests in the great natural open landscape at the tip of Chequamegon Bay.

I have been here several times. It's a great place to get visitor information and learn about the area. The top floor also has a great view of Chequamegon Bay. There is a nature trail out back that runs through a wetland area. It's a great place to stop and stretch your legs on a roadtrip.

Nice movie theater with a variety of choices for FREE! Small gift shop and lots of activities even indoors. Better in the spring, summer of course but still a good daytime trip for the winter.

This is a very attractive visitor centre. As well as very helpful staff who are keen to spend time giving you ideas and answering your questions, the building is a delight. There is a tower from which you get a 360 degree view and also the most amazing mural. Well worth a stop if you are in the area.

This center offers some focused information about the area, with opportunities to learn some basics about the geology, birds, fish and other wildlife of the area, history of the region, and some of the economics that played into the history. There is no admission, but they offer opportunities to donate to their mission. While we only stopped for a short... More

Try to spend an hour or two and even take a walk along the hiking trail at this site to get acquainted with the area and the history of the region. The exhibits are informative and we've seen the video presentation several times--we stop here on every trip to the Washburn, Bayfield and Red Cliff area.

This place has so much going on. The grounds are beautiful. I think there are 3 or 4 floors. Don't plan just a quick visit. Give yourself some time to check out all it has to offer.
