Well worth a visit. Very ornate and in good condition. Extensive vestry with good exhibits. If you only have time to visit a few churches in Ouro Preto, make this one of them.

Astonishing architecture and art work. Good explanation of local guides. Felt back to the XVIII century. Full of art sculptures.

This church is absolutely stunning and a must-see if you're in Ouro Preto. Located a short walk downhill from the main town square, the church is so ornate and well-preserved, it feels like stepping back in time. The thickness of the stone walls is immense, and the detail carved above the doors and windows just breathtaking. Unfortunatey the church was... More

Enjoyed this church immensely. Loved the fresco ceiling painted by Borroco Mineiro. Built in 1763 its a great example of this period. Also enjoyed all the other parts of the Church.

This church was commissioned by the people and not the church authority and is not as ornate as some churches in the city but it is just as interesting. We had a great guide who explained about the history and I found it fascinating. The exhibition at the back is really worth a look too.

Interesting, but not the best in this historic town and there are a vast number of churches to visit. The museum at the back of the church however is really interesting with many examples of paintings and sculptures by one of the most famous local artists.

This church is probably the one filled with the highest quantity of pieces made by Aleijadinho, which is arguably the most important brazilian sculptor ever. He has truly created a "school of design", since all his works can easily be recognized by the particular details found at the statues' noses and eyes. So, besides some works made by him spread... A magnificent church atop a hill overlooking the hills and valleys of Ouro Preto. This place gave me total peace and tranquility. The spirituality was palpable. The artwork and gold you will see within the structure is just amazing.

This church is less ornate than the NS de Pilar or N.S. de Carmo. It does have some works by Aleijadinho and also in the sacristy they have relocated objects from the Aleijadinho Museum. You can get a very good photo from outside--no photos allowed inside.
