I liked the history and the the roof paintings. I didn´t dislike anything, except the fact the cemetery that is beside the church was closed.

This church was one of the places I liked the most in Ouro Preto. If you don't have much time, save some for the church. The paintings from Master Athayde are astonishing. The church architecture itself and the view from the stone market are also very beautiful. Its architecture is a little different from the others, an unique military style.... More

One has to accept the Baroque, roccoco explosion of gold leaf in Our Presto churches, but this one is spectacular, since Aleijadinho was responsible for much of its decoration. It is certainly worthynof its modest entrance fee, and there is much to marvel at.

This is the top must be seen church in town according to local people. Example of barroque art. work of the most famous colonial artists of that time, Aleijadinho e Athayde There's a street fair outside with hundreds os artcrafts especially the ones made of soapstone. Gems are other wealth at Ouro Preto stores

Well worth a visit. Very ornate and in good condition. Extensive vestry with good exhibits. If you only have time to visit a few churches in Ouro Preto, make this one of them.

Astonishing architecture and art work. Good explanation of local guides. Felt back to the XVIII century. Full of art sculptures.

This church is absolutely stunning and a must-see if you're in Ouro Preto. Located a short walk downhill from the main town square, the church is so ornate and well-preserved, it feels like stepping back in time. The thickness of the stone walls is immense, and the detail carved above the doors and windows just breathtaking. Unfortunatey the church was... More

Enjoyed this church immensely. Loved the fresco ceiling painted by Borroco Mineiro. Built in 1763 its a great example of this period. Also enjoyed all the other parts of the Church.

This church was commissioned by the people and not the church authority and is not as ornate as some churches in the city but it is just as interesting. We had a great guide who explained about the history and I found it fascinating. The exhibition at the back is really worth a look too.
