Being one of the most picturesque colonial town in Brazil I was surprised by the low level of maintenance and quite abandoned appearance of the main square of this place. No parking for tourist and a significant amount of street re-sellers for low quality stuff of all kind that can be found all over Brazil. Services are also limited and... More

This is the hub of the city with a very nice ambience. The cobblestone streets are charming. The sky was beautiful from the square at sunset.

A strange place look historical. The tourist office is inside but nothing to take inside. You can jewel craft-men working on colored stones. very cheap things to buy. At night there is bars with local music very enjoy-full

Take a look at it, take care crossing the roads and visit the museums. The vistas are worth capturing on your camera.

Would classify it as a meeting point. In the middle you´ll find the place where Tiradentes, the most famous city martir was shown dead; close to the museum of betrayal (Museu da Inconfidência) and the Direita street, where most of the pubs are set.

Very noisy, non-stop zapping of cars, motorbikes, buses, trucks. Full of gem selling touts. Come at sun rise before the buses starts for a 'moment' more reflective of it's history.

That's how you know you are in Ouro Preto. Walk around from the borders to the inside, which will be seen all the time but needs getting there too, so that you'll rest on the steps of the statue of Tiradentes. Unfortunately it's always full of cars parked and moving every direction! Somebody said this is the biggest barroque parking... More

The city of Ouro Preto located on the of Minas Geraes, it is the most beautiful and important colonial city in Brazil. Also, the home of the nicest Brazilian people I ever encountered. Please include this location when visiting Brazil. It is just an overnight trip from Rio. J. Carlos Desales.
