This is another beautiful church in Ouro Preto. Some of the elements were made by Antonio Francisco Lisboa, (O Aleijadinho) and also his father. Most interesting is the para-vento facade which is an additional door separating the church from the outer door.

The blue Delft-like tiles at the sanctuary are, for me, the best part of this church which originated as a Carmelite convent. Entry costs 2Rs and that is cheap so it is worth a quick visit. There are numerous other churches in Ouro Preto to visit.

Baroque architecture, Ataíde paintings and sculptures by master Aleijadinho. to visit it you feel in the seventeenth century.

Go and seat anywhere inside. No need to hear the local guides buble talk. Just stare every detail inside-out this incredible church. Notice the porcelain tiles. Check the thickness of the walls. Go behind the altar etc.
