It was nice museum and I was surprised with all stones and a part that visitors can see different types of stones as virtual 3D objects. During Worldcup games (maybe for other days too) the entrance fee is free :)

Interactive tricks for kids and several nice explanations for anyone who is interested in metals and precious gems. After visiting the museum spend some time visiting the nearby cultural exibitions of the planetarium museum (some a few meters far ), The Public Library (it looks itself like a Museum, specialy when compared to the University Libraries around the world)- unfortunately... I always wondered where all the semi-precious stones came from and this free museum does an excellent job with interactive videos and gorgeous displays of all the gems and minerals extracted from Minas Gerais. Displays are also in English and the building is well air conditioned and has a nice café.

I was more impressed with what I saw...but my limited knowledge in this area meant I wasn't fully appreciative of everything on display. Nonetheless, worth the visit.

The Museu Das Minas & Do Metal is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. You can view many types of gemstones native to Brazil, particularily the State of Minas Gerais, and learn some of the most important history of Belo Horizonte as well. All of the displays have explanations in both Portuguese and English. This is much appreciated!

The museum was way more interesting than I had expected. It's a fun place for adults and even children. All the rooms have a bit of interactive content so you end up learning in a pleasant way. The fact that you can buy souvenirs there is also a plus, not to mention that there's a cafe - always an opportunity... More

On Praca Liberdade with a mix of modern and old arquitecture. Very nicely done with exhibits of all the minerals you'd want to decorate your house with. But also, very informative about the developmenta nd history in Minas.
