A wonderful complex of 4 buildings by Oscar Niemayer in a great setting. The museum, the chapel, the ball room and the athletic club around an articulate lake. Better have a driver and car not only to get there from Belo Horizonte but also locally.

The Chapel, the Ballroom and the Modern Art Museum are all well-worth a visit. First the chapel and its exquisite undulating roof, then the ballroom, a round pavilion with a serpentine canopy in a cute garden and last, the museum which has nice Brazilian art and very visitors. But unless you're driving, be prepared to walk a lot as they're... More

From the uniquely designed Igreja São Francisco de Assis to the Museu da Pampulha there is a welcome verity for those looking for a nice hike around the lake (and maybe a photo op of the alligator) or a nice weekend drive. Tip-I lived there for years and to spot the gator you have to look for floating pieces of... More

Nice buildings projected by a famous brasilian archictect, interesting style, has been abandoned by the government for too long. Robberies, kidnapping, Pampulha has sufferred with the increasing urban violence. Maybe due to dark areas in streets, it is now a place where one should keep an eye oppened. The public restrooms are in terrible condition. Casa do Baile, that should... More

The architecture by Oscar Neymeir is fantastic. The Pampulha Museum is very nice and I had the opportunity to see a contemporary performance there. I think if you are in BH you can't miss this place at all.

It's one part of the city that you must see you will see São Francisco church also there few things around as the pampulha lake. In one sunny day you can catch nice shots with your camera but at night be sure to be in a group because is not to safe.

The soccer stadium, the arena, the Saint Francisco church, the art museum, the yatch club and other beautiful magnificent pieces were designed by the great architect Oscar Niemeyer in a set around the Pampulha lake. Read the signs and enjoy the good food. this place is a gift to humanity in terms of design and vision.

This is a must in Belo Horizonte. You have to be keen on walking cause' the best think to do there is to go around the lagoon and visit each of the constructions around it (San Francisco de Asís church, la Casa do Baile, el Iate Club and the museum of art of Pampulha) Before going into the building -... I was visiting the St. Francis of Assisi Church and took a side trip alongside the lake when I suddenly ran into this place. It is well worth the visit and the time spend here. Beautiful art and architecture, and this lake is magnificent. I know there's normally not many places to find good food near here without traveling to... More
