Nice buildings projected by a famous brasilian archictect, interesting style, has been abandoned by the government for too long. Robberies, kidnapping, Pampulha has sufferred with the increasing urban violence. Maybe due to dark areas in streets, it is now a place where one should keep an eye oppened. The public restrooms are in terrible condition. Casa do Baile, that should... More

The architecture by Oscar Neymeir is fantastic. The Pampulha Museum is very nice and I had the opportunity to see a contemporary performance there. I think if you are in BH you can't miss this place at all.

The soccer stadium, the arena, the Saint Francisco church, the art museum, the yatch club and other beautiful magnificent pieces were designed by the great architect Oscar Niemeyer in a set around the Pampulha lake. Read the signs and enjoy the good food. this place is a gift to humanity in terms of design and vision.

This is a must in Belo Horizonte. You have to be keen on walking cause' the best think to do there is to go around the lagoon and visit each of the constructions around it (San Francisco de Asís church, la Casa do Baile, el Iate Club and the museum of art of Pampulha) Before going into the building -... I was visiting the St. Francis of Assisi Church and took a side trip alongside the lake when I suddenly ran into this place. It is well worth the visit and the time spend here. Beautiful art and architecture, and this lake is magnificent. I know there's normally not many places to find good food near here without traveling to... More

Hire a bike and do a lap of the lake (18km) to see the views and buildings around its edge. Theres a hire shop next to the petrol station on the south side of the dam (R$10/hour). Can be hard to find a nice place to eat (other than hot dogs/popcorn!) especially in the week. Try 'Juscelino's on the lakefront... More
