This is a very interesting museum which is actually Brazilian writer Jorge Amado's former house right smack in the center of the Pelhourinho district. Don't see how he got any work done! It has many of his artifacts, his typewriter, etc., and histories of all his novels. Folks who haven't read Amado may not be very interested, but if you're... More

Right at the top of Pelorinho, the Jorge Amado museum, even if you never heard of this great writer, commands a superb view of the historical centre. Inside you get to see a great display of the life and works of Amado with very interesting pieces that belonged to the writer and a chronological presentation of his every work. On... More

The museum is lovely. There are a lot of employees that are bilingual, so it really helps when you want to know more about something. There is an upstairs view of the city, and its absolutely beautiful. The museum has a good collection of Jorge Amado's belongings and works. It's worth the visit.

Right in the main square of Pelourinho close to Rosario Church...you feel the hood there in your veins...Jorge Amado had Salvador as his inspiration paradise. And visiting his museum is the best way to find out more about this great brazilian character. He wrote one of the masterpiece of our literature: TIETA

Devoted to the life and times of one of Bahia's( and Brazil's) most cherished writers. Even though almost everything was in Portuguese, I still enjoyed it. Learned about one of his children's books -- THE BALL AND THE GOAL KEEPER. Unfortunately, it's not translated into English

Worth a visit, but it would be good to have more of a flavour of Jorge Amado's life and work, and about his key novels.
