Not easy at all... going to the beach in Salvador! Flamengo and Stela Maris are the best options by far! All the other beaches are polluted, crowded, dirty and receive a stinky sewage water...Actually they were meant to be only rain water drains...but once the city sewage system is insufficient, the slums use them to release the rejects. Going north,... More

Really, the strip between stella maris, flamengo and maybe even ipitanga is nothing to call home about. Sea, water, attendees, food are all mediocre, and so is the price in the other hand. I gues its valid for one visit just to get to know.

A beautiful beach, near San Salvador de Bahía, but without contamination. A special place to rent an apartment, and from there, visit Bahía.

Possibly one of the most spectacular beaches in Salvador. Great family beach with light crowds on the weekends and the water is pristine.

If you like to go to a beach where you can get big waves, so this is the right beach to go. This beach is the favourite of surfing. Just be careful with your stuff. There is a lot of pick pockets around the area.

Going to Flamengo is a nice way to spend the day. About 45 minutes from Vitória (about a R$85/US$35 taxi ride) without traffic, you will find this extremely nice, wide, and relatively uncrowded beach. Have the taxi take you to Barraca do Loro, at Praia de Aleluia and rent some chairs and umbrellas from them. Very safe -- I have... More

Quite far from the city center, but the beach is nice with crystal clear water. Good offer of restaurants there with typical local food.
