Beautiful town with many touristic things to do. Some highlights: Visit to the Caravel 'Nau Capitania'; historic city center; Balsa crossing; Visit to the Aldeia dos Patajó do Jaqueira; Passarela). Beautiful & clean beaches, very empty in August (low season).

This is a must to do in Porto Seguro due to the significance of Brazilian history. There was hardly anyone there when I visited which made it very peaceful. I walked the roughly 2-3 km distance from the port and back. The entry is 30 Real but it is a historical significant.

In the absence of local museums that conveys the history of the discovery of Brazil, this is THE attraction. It is not exactly a museum - maybe it is better than that, even if it relies much more on reproductions, like plottered banners and mixed indigenous "gadgets" that not necessarily belong to the tribes of the region and to the age of Pedro Álvares Cabral, our conqueror.

The absolute highlight is the reconstitution of a navy, in real size, such as those of the grand navigations of 1500s. It makes the Discovery Memorial a must-go, not only for rainy days, the best ones to visit it, but also for an after-beach hangout (beware of the closing time: 5 PM; an hour is enough to do the hole tour, including the guided one; it is closed on Sundays.).

Besides, you can appreciate the nature surroundings, including a stream that leads to the shore; it is a nice place to have a promenade, don't miss it - if you don't like it you will have lost just a few dollars.

The guide for our tour in the memorial was very nice, and the place is really worth the visit. Of course, as boat lovers my husband and I took many pictures with the replica of the discovers ship.

It is supposed to be some kind of museum, but it fails in every single way. Some kids make up history and the content is terrible. Even the ship is a disgrace. Stay away from it.

A well presented historic reminder of the courage and seamanship of Portuguese sailors and Ships. Whilst not fitted out it is a wonderful replica in size and sure to enthuse young and old. As a non Brazilian I appreciate it more when the guide explained that from 119 ships only three made it on the shores of a country now called Brazil.

The real size ship is not the best remake, but it´s great to go with kids so they can feel a bit of how it used to be back there. It cost R$10,00 each.

My kids loved the real sized scale Portuguese nave you have inside this place. There is also monitors to explain and tell you curiosity about the colonization life. It is a really interesting place to visit!

The great part of this tiny museum is the life size replica of Pedro Álvares Cabral ship. There is also a botanical garden with all the natural flora from the region during the time of the Portuguese arrival in 1500s.
