Bring repellent when you go to this place if you dont want to be bitten alive by mosquito. It is a stunning and beautiful. A bit dissapointed that I did not see many animals, only 1 sloth and couple of birds

We visited the lake during our Amazon River cruises, and whilst we were a little disappointed that we didn't see a greater variety of birds and animals, the highlight was a large family of Capuchin monkeys on the elevated board walk close to the lake where the lilies are found. Visiting in January enables a better viewing experience that near... More

We hired a boat guide to take us to the Meeting of the Rivers & Janauari Ecological Park. It was about $75/each & lasted two hours led by a friendly, informative guide. We found him across from the market above the AJATO terminal. The group had name tags & seemed legit & not pushy. We really enjoyed the tour. I... More

You leave Manaus port to the other side of the river. There you will find a floating restaurant, handcraft shop and walkway to the beautiful lake where you will find the Vitória Régia pant which floats on the still water. The view is stunning. On the way back, you go through the handcraft shop again and stop at the restaurant... More

Janauari is beautiful! Lots of bugs though since its in the solimoes and the area is so very fertil. Incrediable Victoria Regia plants and amazing birds. Lovely trees and one has a chance to feel like being in the jungle and yet be so near Manaus.

Shopping, not nature is the focus. The boats and drivers were helpful, but not being far enough from Manaus limited the amount of wildlife possible.

This is a great nature preservation area right in front of Manaus (how the locals term the area on the other bank of the Rio Negro, facing the city). Can only be reached by boat, but easily arranged, and be prepared for extremes: heavy rains, or battering sunshine, depending on the season of the year! You will see much water,... More
