We stayed for 3 nights / 4 days in the lodge. Family of 5. It was a wonderful experience: - service is excellent. - food is very good. Try the local flavors: piracucu, tapioca, cupuaçu, açaí. - activities are dynamic, views are breathtaking.

Spectacular scenery! Taking boats into the tangles of trees is a breath taking experience. The water is so still that you can see the reflection of the forest overhead. The trees are tall, so don't expect to get a great view of wildlife. Insects and birds are the best viewing. Mammals not so much. If you like sea food be... More

We visited in March, took the canoes into the small river and walked thru the jungle, we travelled 1000 miles up the Amazon which here is 27mts higher than the Atlantic. This is where the Amazon & Rio Negro meet (meeting of the waters) a real adventure

We went to Novo Airao and hired a guide Mr Ceara to take us on a 3 hours ride on the Anavilhanas, it was quite expensive R$200.00 but we agreed on that, as the city is far away from everything and cost of living is high, we counted the experience of this guide too, he apparently is one of the... This is experience you'll never forget. We where having wonderful time in Rio Negro for three days. Boat was great, food was excellent and our guide knew every species... More

This was one of the most amazing places I have ever been to in Brazil. I ventured into the Archipelago with the Amazon Clipper Cruises aboard the Premium river boat (see my review of the boat in "The Amazon"). I visited the area up close in a canoe to see the flora and fauna.

There isn't a lot of information on the archipelago on the web. Wikipedia writes the following: Anavilhanas Ecological Station is an ecological station in Brazil in the state of Amazonas. The Anavilhanas archipelago includes hundreds of islands in the Rio Negro. An area of 350,000 hectares with a perimeter of 380 km has been put forward by the Brazilian government... More
