Herman Birley is the guide and director of Oropendola tours in Manaus, and arranged two days of tours for us while our cruise ship was docked in Manaus. Both days were fabulous. Four friends and I wanted to check out the Amazon - and we had the trip of our lifetime. I just got back from an amaaaazing trip to the Brazilian Amazon and absolutely must tell you about our amazing tour guide. His name is Herman Birley, and he's bilingual Portuguese and English (maybe Spanish too, not sure). He has worked for 15 years as a tour guide and has now started his own company, Oropendola Tours.
