A tight road up there, windy but worth it. Plenty of places to pull over & look. Well worth the trip

We were short on time so didn't end up hiking, just drove our car all the way to the top. Climbed out on some rocks and saw absolutely breathtaking views! Even if you don't have a full day to spend hiking around or rock climbing, I recommend at least taking the short drive up to the top! You won't regret... More

Just happened to read another review on things to see in Ancacortes and this was on top of the list. Just minutes from downtown, this is a view you don't want to miss! You can drive to the top and see a couple of different vantage points to see the San Juan Islands. Amazing!

This is a drive able look out. First off, it is very close to the town of Anacortes. Also, it is all paved. Coming from Idaho, I was very surprised that this road was paved all the way to the top of the mountain. It is a short drive on single lane switchback road. When on the top, there are... More

The view especially toward the south (Whidbey Island) is stunning. We came up to see the sun set, but that was not quite so easy - lots of trees block the view, and we had to scramble a bit over rocks to get to an advantageous spot. Saw the moon rise (full harvest moon, very pretty), but again had to... More

You can drive completely to the summit. After all the hiking we did we decided to drive. We did notice a trail it you wanted to hike. The roads up are a little steep not horrible though. I guess people also rock climb here

Majestic views from the top. Steep grade with switchback turns, but thankfully, you can drive up to the viewpoint. Very close to town; well worth the drive.

The parks in all of Anacordes are outstanding. The roads are very safe driving up. The foliage is extraordinary. The large trees are amazing. The view from the top is God's gift to us all. Enjoy!

We hiked up Mt Erie a couple of times during our stay in Anacortes. The views did not disappoint. One time, we just sat and watched the fog roll in, which was an awesome sight to see. We also drove up for sunset once, and those views were splendid. I love looking at all the little islands and lakes surrounding... More

This was a pleasant surprise. After an easy uphill drive we found ourselves at the highest point on the island. The views in every direction were extraordinary. And despite being in the middle of the tourist season, we only encountered 6 other travelers at the lookout points.
