Sunrise Service at Easter

If you have a chance, go to the Carillon for Sunrise Service. When I was in high school, our choir often sang, and it was a wonderful, magical experience.

We visited in April so appropriately, all the beautiful tulip beds were in full bloom. This carillon is sited close to the Iwo Jima Marine monument and is worth a look at.

The tulips surrounding are amazing. It's adjacent to the Marine Corps Memorial (same parking). Nice bells too. Thank you Netherlands.

Listened to the pealing of the Carillon while visiting the Marine Corps Memorial, a nice touch to a sobering monument.

The carillon sits in a field not far from the Iwo Jima Memorial. There is very little to see: just a stack of bells in a stark, grid-like structure. There is no [legal] parking and no particular reason to visit unless the carillon is being played.

Visited on veterans day while at Arlington. Desperately in need of some love and attention, also really needs some signage to say when it is used.

it is a very nice carillon but has not been well maintained. the paint is peeling and the steel is corroding in places. it was a gift to the u.s. from the netherlands after wwii to thank us for their liberation. i was ashamed that it was not better maintained. i notified the natl park service via my congresswoman's office.... Situated between the Rosslyn and Arlington National Cemetery Metro stations, near the US Marine Corps (Iwo Jima) War Memorial and the National Cemetery, this scenic memorial offers great views of the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument across the Potomac River. Its photogenic, 131-foot (40 m) tall open steel framed bell tower, which commemorates World War II and Dutch gratitude... More

The Carillion is square tower with 50 bells. Each Sunday night the bells are used with a concert from late May though September. My visit was on a Sunday afternoon, no concert, but the bells were performing some music. One was the U.S. National Anthem. The Carillion is located just 100 yards from the Marine Corps Iwo Jima Memorial. I... More
