This old torpedo factory has been turned into artist studios. You can wander thru' & watch artists at work & purchase art. There are some first rate artists working here - painters, printmakers, sculptors, etc. It's really fun & the artists are pretty approachable. There's a little snack shop inside, & many restaurants in the blocks surrounding. It's located on... More

Walked through here a few years ago and this time it seemed that the quality was a bit better. While much of it is derivative, there were some very creative pieces worth viewing. Great location right on the river and harbor.

This is an old factory that manufactured torpedos for WWII, now converted into a series of artists' studios. Sculptors, painters, fiber artists, and jewelry designers are among the media presented here. Usually there is an artist to talk with. Lessons are provided through the Art Guild as well for those new to the area. Kids love the many things they... More

The Torpedo Factory is a mecca for artist and art lovers. The multi-storied building holds the studios and show rooms of many artists including painters, ceramists, jewelry designers, sculptors, etchers and fabric artists (I probably missed a few). The work runs from traditional to the avant garde.

It is great to tour the studios and be able to meet the artist themselves. Of course, there is always one person who thinks if you are not purchasing something that moment that you are not worth the time. Of course, due to there attitude, they will never know that a sale was lost.

This is a such a fun place to visit! I have never been anywhere else like it. It's a treat to get exposure to so many different types of art all in one place. The artists' studios are right there so you even get the chance to watch and interact with the artists. It's fascinating to see so many different... More

The Torpedo factory is a great date for couples who enjoy art. The location is right on the marina, in a former torpedo factory. The factory now houses over 80 artists in individual gallery/studio combinations. Art ranges from all forms of painting to sculpture, pottery, glass work, and jewelry. There is a small cafe located within and several restaurants within... More
