We rented the space for our company dinner, and they allowed us to cater in. It was a really unique, fun place to visit, and we saw a lot of really cool pieces in the many studios that were there.

At the end of King Street on the water, the Torpedo Factory is a delight discovery for the visitor to Old Town. An old factory that manufactured torpedoes at the end of World War I, was mothballed and then reactivated for World War II, it became an eyesore among the old warehouses in the heart of Alexandria. It was resurrected... More

The Torpedo Factory is a former torpedo factory. It has been re-purposed into a variety of art galleries. We always love visiting the Torpedo Factory to browse, this time it was a little more meaningful as we were in the market to potentially make a purchase. If you are looking for art to buy, this is your place. There are... More

If you're looking for something to fill a space on a wall, check out the Torpedo Factory. It's filled with artist studios and an almost overwhelming amount of artwork. I went on a rainy day so wasn't able to take advantage of the walk along the water but did enjoy visiting the three floors of studios in the factory. One... More

Here's a one stop shopping center for artworks from paintings to sculptures, from print to photography, from one-of-a-kind RTW to porcelain. Some really unique pieces but can be pricey. Regardless whether you buy or not, it is an enjoyable place to browse through its boutiques and galleries replete with art by local artists.

My wife and I visited the Torpedo Factory Art Center during a group tour of Old Town Alexandria. In 1969, the City of Alexandria bought the buildings from the Federal Government. However, it was several years before an acceptable plan for their use was adopted. Today The Torpedo Factory Art Center is the highlight of Alexandria’s Potomac River waterfront. Here... More

We were visiting from out of town and stopped in. Very neat building with very talented people. The nice lady at the welcome desk suggested we start at the top floor, work our way down and stop in the studios/shops. She was right there was such as nice variety of jewelry, art work, photographs, and yummy pastries too. Check it... More

We were taking are time exploring Old Town when we stumbled upon this waterside location. The outside is deceptive... but it is an old torpedo factory (who would have guessed?). Inside is an art goldmine. Beautiful art made by a large number of artists, some while you visit their galleries. Truly worth several hours of time.

This place really was a torpedo factory for WWII. I read a novel recently, written in the early 70s, and the protagonist had an office in the building. Now it is dedicated to art and is an absolute must to visit. Best way to get there is to take a Potomac tour boat one way from Georgetown. It will drop... More

From pottery, to photography, to paintings, there is a little bit of everything. The Torpedo Factory Art Center affords the visitor a diverse presentation of art in its various forms. We enjoyed meeting and speaking with some of the local and visiting artists and having an opportunity to be exposed to many wonderful pieces.
