We took the water taxi from Alexandria to Georgetown and back. The cruise took about 90 minutes. It offers a unique view of the city, with good views of the Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and river activities. We went in the evening as the sun was setting. The narration was informative. They offered some refreshments such as popcorn and drinks. The... More

We missed our boat, literally the first day because the "dock" was so hard to find. There is no dock in DC and no cab driver was familiar with the location. We paid $30 between the two days to drive around looking for it. Be warned there is no dock, no landing, only a sign that is 14"x 20" and... More

The experience was delightful, truly, but you can't go into this thinking that you are going to get a tour. The ship basically takes you in a direct path from one destination to the other. You get to see lovely views on the ride. The tour is a recording, with great facts and information, but a recording nonetheless. It is... More

Boat trip to Mount Vernon. Comfy boat, left punctually. Commentary was a bit repetitive and I would have liked to hear more about some of the grand houses we passed. The boat operator took away our Mt Vernon admission tickets on arrival at the dock, which later posed problems when passing through the official entrance beside the restaurant. Would have... More

The breeze and the river itself were quite relaxing after a tiring day. Acoustics was awful though and 28 per person is an little bit pricey.

We took the cruise from Alexandria to Georgetown for $28 round trip. The trip was refreshing because of the breeze- the trip is about 45 minutes long and we got off at Georgetown and did some sightseeing for two hours. The cruise picks you up at the same place where you disembarked. On the way to Georgetown, they will tell... More

I took a group of summer camp students on the popular Monuments Cruise two years ago. I recall having a lovely boat in good condition with two levels, and my students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Yesterday I took a friend from Kenya on the same cruise, as it is his first time visiting Washington DC. We were rather disappointed. The... More

This is a fabulous way to get to either DC or Alexandria if you're fed up with using the metro! It also goes to the National Harbour (but we didn't have time for that). You get a different view of Alexandria & Washington (and places in between). Definitely worth it. Be aware that the landing in DC is a very... More

We took the Monuments by water cruise. It would have been interesting if you could have actually heard what the recorded tour was saying about the monuments. Also, they sell beer, wine, soda and popcorn on deck and it caused such a ruckus during the first 1/2 of the trip...I was just expecting something a little more calm. On the... More
