DC Metro Food Tours brings groups on 3.5 hour walking tours that highlight the architecture, history, people and most importantly, the cuisine of Washington DC area neighborhoods. Our Food Tours have been carefully developed to create a striking harmony between a neighborhood’s local cuisine, history, and architecture. The food served at each establishment accurately reflects their house specialties while staying true to the area’s culinary history. Washington DC Food Tours:The Capitol Hill Culinary ExperienceCapitol Hill is a 200 year old melting pot of cultures, ethnicities and religions. The country’s largest Victorian neighborhood has been the home to laborers, craftsmen, and members of congress alike. Enjoy a series of dishes from restaurants and shops nestled in quaint row houses, clustered down barracks row, and located inside the district’s longest running market.

I took my husband and father on the Old Town tour as a late Father's Day gift. They are both "foodies" and thought it was a great idea! We had a good time with Pablo as our guide. We were on the tour with some other people - a mother and daughter, and then 2 guides that were shadowing Pablo.... More

Our tour guide Don was very knowledgeable about Old town Alexandria & being a former restaurant owner he also new the ins & outs of the restaurants we visited. We never felt rushed & we learned a lot of history of the area. I will be doing a review on the restaurants we visited on our tour. Please treat yourself... More

We have done four excellent food tours in other cities, so this one was a bit of a let down. Our guide was very knowledgable and familiar with the food scene in Alexandria. However, the tour included four random stops at average restaurants, where the food was not unique or artisanal in any way. Two of the four stops included... More

Alexandria is a very charming city to stroll. We had a enjoyable day of food tastings and ample history. The tour combined a good mix of different foods and we walked some beautiful neighborhoods. Our group consisted of 8 people. The smaller group made the experience better. You may want to inquire about the group size when you make a... More

We have taken food tours in many other cities, and are sorry to say that this one in Old Town Alexandria was not great! Only 4 stops (others we have been on had many more). Our guide was nice enough, but we had to extract information out of him. If we had not kept asking him questions, we would not... More

Another fantastic tour with DC Metro Food Tours! This year I took the U Street tour with Chris as our guide. Along with being very knowledgeable of the history of the area Chris is a very friendly guy and makes sure everyone has an enjoyable time. I've also taken the Alexandria, little Ethiopia, and Capitol Hill tours and they were... More

Can't say enough good things about this 3 and a half hour tour. Got to see wonderful examples of historical architecture; learned about key events in Alexandria's history -- maybe sounds boring if you are not a history buff (and I am not one!) but coupling a focused tour with the chance to try four different wonderful restaurants -- which... I have done food tours in many cities around the country and think it's the best way to find out about a place and hopefully discover some good food along the way. This tour was my least favorite out of all of them. I chose the Old Town tour because the website description sounded great. Specifically, the website said "feel... More

I took this tour with my family, including my father, who is in a wheelchair. They were very accommodating of my father's special needs, which we very much appreciated. I found the guides knowledgeable and affable, and learned a great deal about old town Alexandria. The history lesson was far and away my favorite part of the tour. We enjoyed... More

Good guide with excellent local knowledge of history of buildings and the town. He might have been a little more interested in where people came from and when they challenged some of this comments. However managed to encourage a good group to become friendly. Good choices of place to eat, and quality of the food was excellent and it was... More
