The cemetery is on Russell Street, directly off of Main Street in Abingdon. The tombstones date back to the revolutionary war era. There is a brochure as you enter the gate that provides information about certain individuals interred there and where their gravestones are located. My husband and I found it very interesting and peaceful there.

We were glad to have a brochure about this cemetery to describe the background of some of the deceased.

We parked at the municipal parking lot and spent hours walking through Abingdon. First stop was this cemetery. It is an amazing place! There are historical plaques that are easy to see. Graves date back to Revolutionary War soldiers, and a special place dedicated to soldiers of the Civil War. Well kept, and very interesting.

I visited this cemetery because I found a brochure for it at the Historical Society of Washington County Virginia. Without this guide, I would have been utterly lost, but at the same time, the map was vague and without walking all over the graves (which I am loathe to do in ANY cemetery), you are not quite sure what you...
