Festival Art Show Was a Hit

Great art for the HIghland Festival show was on display. Looks to be worth the visit during a quiet visit to the quaint town any time.

Watch the artists work and enjoy interesting conversation. This is a highlight of Abingdon. Our favorite artist is Nancy, who does primitive art and collages. Her work and her conversation alone is worth the trip to the Depot. Also of note is the artist who was creating incredible tapestries. The Art Depot is free to explore, and worth checking out.

Be sure to take a stroll through these galleries if you are staying in Abingdon. You get a wide variety of art to view and purchase and you can meet most of the artists. They love telling you about their work, and there are some interesting stories.

Wonderful use of a historic building, artists studios. Loved being able to walk through the studios and see the artists at work. Also had the option of purchasing directly from the artist.

It was my time to visit the Art Deport and i was very impressed by everything that i saw. They have a stream of galleries that showcase art pieces by different artists. I was privileged to visit two particular galleries, the first one was for a very creative artist who used all types of materials to make her work. She... More

Spent an afternoon at the Art Depot - one thing I can say is that the artisans are very friendly! We spent quite a bit of time talking with two in particular - but all were willing to talk about their craft and share their wares. The types of art are unusual - folks art painting, wonderfully creative weaving, clay... More

We came in on a rainy afternoon and didn't want to leave. This old depot hold an amazing assortment of artists and styles. We wandered around and each artist was so kind and interesting, sharing their work and their working process. If you have even the remotest interest in art, stop in!

A wide variety of talents working in many genres. Fun to explore and talk with the artists in residence. Buy a piece of art and support the starving artists of the world!

This is such a special place in a unique setting! The art is constantly new and exciting. I love watching artists at work and they are all friendly and willing to talk with me. Be sure and check the hours before visiting, they are a little unusual, but plan ahead and make sure you don't miss out on this place.
