I once again visited Heartwood on Saturday, May 19, 2012. It is enjoyable to go in and see crafts from 19 different counties in Southwest Virginia. There was one woman from Nash's Ford that was making bunnies inside when we arrived. The center is well done and has nice restrooms. There are many paintings, crafts and artistic things to purchase.... More

Off of I-81, you'll find the Heartwood Artisan Center in Abingdon, VA. The staff greeted us warmly and gave us a brief tour of the galleries and the interactive exhibits. Did I say interactive exhibits? Yes, I did! While I enjoy museums, the 5-year-old in me loves to get hands-on with exhibits and features and the huge touch screens let... More

Beautiful building displaying local arts and crafts. The upscale atmosphere allows the prices to be high. If you are interested in more affordable gifts from local artisans, try the Cave house in downtown Abingdon or White's Mill General Store. The cafe is fine for lunch, although the food is too cafeteria-like to be particularly memorable. However, frequent live entertainment and... More

Signs along I-81 led us to Exit 10 to find this unique building, sort of backwards barn. Beautifully built center, wonderful artisian items for sale, and a very nice lunch. Sure better than the usual chain places. Must stop. More

I took a group to eat at Heartwood Artisan Center on Saturday, December 10, 2011. I had been in communication with people at the center for a few months. I even made a phone call to the chef five days prior to arrival to remind him of our coming. He said everything was set. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the staff... More

Travellers and native Virginians both, treat yourself to a leisurely visit to Heartwood. I love the depiction of the craftspeople of Southwest Virginia and the building itself is beautiful (inside). But this place is a mix. It strives to present the artists of the area, but it's mainly high end products, unlike Tamarack, (Beckley, WV) which beautifully spans all ranges... More

Tucked in the corner of Southwest Virginia in the historic town of Abingdon is the Heartwood Artisian Center. A remarkable showcase for the region's traditional music, original crafts, and regional cuisine. The center is easily accessed from Exit 14 of I-81. We visited mid-day on a Sunday to have lunch and enjoy visiting the galleries/exhibits. This is a unique venue... More

This place is a beautiful gallery set in a beautiful location. It is actually called "HEARTwood" and not HEARwood. The galleries have some beautiful crafts available for purchase. It is new at this point and was not crowded at all when I went, but it was a lovely stop. It's a mini museum and gallery combined and it was free! More

I live in this region, and am totally amazed that such a beatiful place has been built here. Sounds and Music everywhere, with alot of touch screens for hands on for the kids. Food is priced very reasonable, and their coffee, which is roasted locally is great! It's kind of a museum, kind of a store, with a resteraunt, with... More
