We were skiing on all major ski resorts around Salt Lake City during last week of Dec 2013, and some of you might have seen my annual review for other mountains in the area. I'll try to be fair and give credit to folks doing their job, as well as recommend families like our to not get burned, relying on... More

This place is incredible! The slopes really offer something for every type of skier. There are plenty of trees and glades, wide open, gates, steeps, and easy stuff. Several times we dropped into powder over our boots. The lift lines were short. Best of all, the prices are reasonable compared to a lot of other resorts, at $79 for a... More

Yes, this resort has a rule only allowing skiers and bans snowboarding. There is plenty of runs for all difficulty levels here. In fact the locals are more often making trails in places you didn't know were skiable and wonder how to get there. The mountain is interconnected with snowbird when there is enough snow and you need a special... More

Eeee haaaaa! This is the wild sister or Snowbird. As you can see she has a temper because she refuses snowboarders. Alta is the Alter-ego of Snowbird, the terrain is slightly more difficult and rougher. You will find the same quality of snow and the same wonderful experience. You can access really nice terrain if you are willing and equiped... More

We've been skiing mostly in Utah over the past 10 years and have spent most of our time at Alta. Alta does not disappoint--there is something for everyone here. Our kids have grown up at their ski school and the instructors are first class! We enjoy staying at the Goldminer's Daughter for the best ski-in and out access. Just a... More

Great skiing and great atmosphere. Lifts are fast and smooth, snow is groomed where it needs to be. Dare to hike back-country, and you will find the greatest fresh powder of you life. But you gotta want it...its not for the faint of heart or any beginners.

Wow! This was my first real ski trip and it was great! Alta does not allow snowboarders so for a beginner (me) it was perfect. I did a class for the first 1/2 day and then spent the next day and a half learning on my own. The snow was perfect. Seeing the views I got to see made every... More

See Snowbird for more info. Alta is a Mecca for powder skiers. It is small by western standards but gets more dry powder then almost any place in the world. Salt Lake City is a wonderful place to stay and the shuttles to the four mountains runs regularly. If you love powder skiing, Alta is a must. One word of... More

This place is so magical. Good roads up to the mountain in a fog. A snow storm had come through overnight so we were not disappointed with the snow cover, and magical views through the trees. Great terrain and good quality chairlifts. Excellent value for money ski lift passes, compared to other Utah ski resorts.
