Owner description: Alta turns 70 next winter. Alta's place in the ski world is unique, its history storied. Alta's culture blends this past with the future as it presents, along with Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, America's first lift-served interconnect. Alta and pure, unspoiled skiing are synonymous. Alta's wide variety of terrain, breathtaking alpine scenery and superb snow conditions combine to create a unique setting. Alta continues to offer a ski-only experience.

We spend a week at the fantastic Grand America hotel in Salt Lake City and drove each day to Alta for skiing. The drive is only 40 minutes so not bad and by staying in SLC we had a much more robust selection of activities for the evening as well as a great hotel. But enough about that, this review... More

We stayed at Snowbird, but decided to upgrade to a combo pass one day, and ski Alta. We were extremely pleased. The terrain is much nicer, and conducive to beginner or intermediate skiers. There is certainly plenty of black and double-black as well, but the runs are properly labelled (unlike Snowbird), so you won't get in over your head. Our... More

Great terrain, better prices, better hiking, not nearly the crowds you get in colorado. I can fly from Denver to Salt Lake and stay here for cheaper than going to Vail for the weekend. Not to mention better snow and terrain.

We've been vacationing here almost every Christmas for 12 years with the family. We ski 2-3 different places in Utah but always spend the most time at Alta. After one member of my family was injured by a careless snowboarder we decided that Alta was far safer. Alta has a wide range of terrain for all skill types and the... More

No snowboarders allowed. The mountain is reserved for skiers only and it is one of the best ski resorts in the world. Alta's snow is the best!

Being a newer skier, I hate paying such high prices when I'm only going to be skiing for a couple of hours on limited easier runs. Ski after 3 at Alta solves that problem - for an initial $10 (and $5 to reload each subsequent time), you get access to the 3 lifts that serve all the green runs from... More

Took my 8 year old son to Alta after skiing at Park City the day before. We had a blast skiing off the Supreme lift through the trees on a powder day last March. He said Alta made this his best vacation ever! We had a great time and I visited again in early December and had another great time... More

Leave the glitz & glamour to Park City and Colorado, come to Alta for the skiing! The terrain is varied for all abilities, the vibe is always skiing first, and you feel the history from miners to adventurers everywhere you go. The Deep Powder House is the go to ski shop, and après ski at the Sitzmark (in the Alta... More

Alta is the oldest ski resort in Utah and has a reputation for the best snow and more of it! Alta is at a higher elevation than the other ski resorts in Utah, so even in a slow snow year, the snow is pretty great! As a confident beginner, I struggled at Alta where they believe in powder skiing for... More

We skied Alta mid-week. The lifts were about 10 minutes late in opening and they don't open until 9:15. We are from out of town so we need to rent equipment. We rent onsite instead of in town in case there are size or equipment issues. I checked rental prices online with Alta Ski Shops and Alta Sports being the... More
