Went here on a recommendation. Glad I did. Great place for live local music. Service good. People very friendly. If The Whiskey Sisters are playing, you'll get a real treat.

On a local recommendation, went out on a Monday night to hear Bob Schneider and the place was packed (at $10 a head) for an 8-10:30 show. The music was eceletic and the crowd was diverse (guessing average age was 35 or so, I'm 56). Service was outstanding and people were friendly. We're really glad we went....a good time was... More

Super place to hear great music! They have an early show and a late show. When we were in Austin for a week, we went here 3 or 4 times --- musicians were awesome.

A great live music seen. It was a low key night and the music was great. Good prices for drinks. The bartender was meticulously cleaning everything in sight. Didn't have food. Worth a visit if you are looking for good live music.

Very loud, dark & hot but it's an Austin institution so it's totally bearable. There is enough room to back away from the crowd in a little better lit area.

A great venue with a superb sound system and staff to match.Always some kind of live music going on, many of which are free. Don't miss Bob Schneider and Lonelyland, who appear to be on most Monday nights.Had never heard of him, but folks in other bars told us to go see him. So glad we did, a real original... More

A great band, and regulars at this friendly, clean and fun spot. We spent a month touring various various Austin clubs and consider this our favorite. Another great music spot is right across the street, One 2 One Club.

And that is saying something, because you have so many choices. On Thursday, there is a happy hour show with one of the greatest music performances you will ever be witness to---"86". These guys just plain rip it up.....have never failed to see them and go here when I am in town. Even Tommy Shannon, from SRV's Double Trouble was... More

I am a fan of live, local music in Austin. The Saxon Pub is my favorite place to hear the Austin sound seven nights a week. Located in the less bustling South Lamar corridor, parking is rarely an issue. There are free happy hours where you can hear amazing music on your way home from work. The crowd is a... More

I've been a faithful music lover in Austin for over 20 years, and have been to virtually every club in the city over that period of time. The Saxon Pub has the rudest staff of any bar I've ever experienced anywhere. Ever. I don't want to denigrate the music, however; it's usually amazing and the room has great sound. Just... More
