Recently visited Austin with college roommates & ended up here at the recommendation of an earlier tour driver. It didn't disappoint. We were looking for a relaxed, local atmosphere with great live music. That's exactly what we got. Would totally go back again.

This pub may be great for music and food in town but the airport location doesn't make it. I waited for a very long time for my food after ordering - at least 30 min. Not good for an airport. The grilled cheese wasn't grilled. It was tasty on a ciabatta but not what one would expect. When asked for... More

If you truly want to experience the essence of live music, that reflects the Austin scene, this is it. So many tourist end up on 6th street, but the music there is average to below, it's a circus. Get out and see the mainstream clubs, it's there that you will find the true Austin music.

Very fun experience; the music was terrific, the sound system was excellent, and Saxon Pub has a really nice atmosphere in which to watch music.

A long established staple of old Austin. Want to see what real music is about ? Then go here before it disappears. So much of what Austin has really been about is going away - and even the Saxon is due to move in a few years they say as this location is redeveloped like so much of the area.... More

We booked a live music crawl while visiting Austin. This was the second of three venues that we were to check out. The music and atmosphere was so awesome here that we decided to stay and not go to the last club. Bought the musician's CD. I would definitely recommend this place to get a taste of what Austin offers... More

Great local music, some of the best Happy Hour music events in Austin. Go on Wednesdays and see Johnny Nicolas. It feels like a local place and has a good vibe. Parking can be a nightmare, though, so drive around the back, behind the gas station, to park on the streets behind the Saxon. Well worth the time. And order... More

The music was good here, but it was difficult finding a seat. There was no dance floor, which made the place even more crowded with people wanting to dance. Drinks were good. Bartenders were on top of it!

While they serve no food here, the pizza house next door will deliver. The beer was great and the "old man" band was the best. Stayed for under an hour but the visit was real Texas.

Got there very early for happy hour. Had margaritas that were not that tasty, plenty of tequila, but not great margaritas by any stretch of the imagination......but patio was wonderful, had fun sitting there soaking in the sun and there were flowers in bloom around the fence. Finally we went inside to get a seat for the free show, the... More
