Visited Esther's Follies for the first time after reading all the great reviews on TA. OMG...They made me laugh so hard. I hadn't laughed so hard in a while. So glad we decided to attend the show. They have a little bar to get drinks/snacks while you wait or during the show. It's a fabulous little Austin intimate setting. The... More

There's a lot of talent and a lot of fun. The local political humor may get by the tourists. They should read a little about Perry, Abbott and Wendy Davis before coming to a show.

Esther's Follies is an Austin institution for over 30 years. They pack comedy sketches, magic acts and singing into one very fast paced show. We come to Esther's every time we have out of town guest. We have never been disappointed. Last Saturday night was hysterical! We always love how they incorporate people from the audience and on the street.... More

It is hard to describe Esther's Follies. Maybe think of Saturday Night Live with singing, dancing, and magic instead of skits. The humor is mostly Texas based so it's good to go with someone from Texas who can explain some of the humor. The magic act is so unusual, Rick includes comedy throughout his magic acts. Try to get a... More

The energy, the songs, the dances, the one liners! This was fun to watch from the street, you could hear the music and see the audience. The dancers were so great that even from behind we knew what was going on. The actors also did bits on the sidewalk where we were watching. If you can't get a ticket inside.... More

It was a fast paced, colorful, musical mockery of politics and politicians presented by a multi-talented group of singing and dancing comedians and a very skillful magician. An additional treat was watching the people on 6th Street watching the show through the full windows at the back of the stage. The actors made comments about the people on the street... More

This was my first time, and my brother's 4th. He loves it so much that he keeps going back and he took me with him. I'm so glad I did. The skits and songs were really clever and so funny. I don't know how they can do all of it night after night. It was a really high energy show.... More

First, be aware that some of the acts are very risque. You may not want to take your kids, your elderly mom, or some business associates or customers unless you're confident they will enjoy jokes about, for example, feminine sanitary products. We find the show to be amusing once every few years. There are some elements in the show that... More

The comedy is intelligent and witty. The costumes are outrageous and fun. I didn't have high expectations for my first variety show, but I was blown away. I laughed a lot and really enjoyed the magic too!

Everyone would enjoy this - the actors are practically Austin legends and the comedy is always contemporary and brilliant. Take no prisoners style. Love the magician especially.
