This funky bar was recommended by an Austin resident. We visited for lunch, had the place almost to ourselves (doubt that is the case in the evening). BBQ from Stubbs attached was given a thumbs up, the vegetarian enjoyed the sides. it is the polar opposite from any place we ever frequent which made it fun; well-worn, seemingly held up... More

Great place to stop by while you're in Austin. Bartenders are entertaining and the "mean margarita" is awesome, with jalepenos and habanero lime syrup. They also have "a drink named Sue". If you're hungry they serve Stubbs BBQ--get the pulled pork nachos!

We decided to eat lunch at the restaurant section of the Mean Eyed Cat while in Austin. This place calls itself a "Bar and Restaurant." After our lunch, we'd say the emphasis is definitely on the "Bar." The dining area is substandard, and the meal which consisted of brisket with white packaged bread, potato salad, and coleslaw left a lot... More

This is fun bar with a Johnny Cash theme. The bartenders are really cool. Many of them have interesting beards. You can also order Stubb's BBQ in the back. It's worth a trip just to see the decor.

From the outside this place doesn't look like too much, the patio is enticing though! Then the inside is awesome! Love the decor and atmosphere, open air bar and patio. Friendly staff and great draft selections, they bought my drink since it was my bachelorette party! We were only there for one drink but it was a great and memorable... More

Stopping by this place was the highlight of our recent our trip to Austin. Super nice bartender who makes the best margaritas this side of the rio grande, along with some of the best bbq we've ever tasted. All that mixed up with a whole lot of Johnny Cash...makes this one of my favorite bars ever. We'll definitely be back... More

They have just remodeled it and I love the new format. The service staff was very friendly and attentive plus the prices where fair. They have a nice inside bar and also a section that is outside. Several rooms inside where you can have a group and you can all be together, or a very nice patio where you have... More

This place is very Johhny Cash themed which I love! Band, old time posters and all on a weekday gets my "two thumbs up." Sad to say I never saw that "mean eyed cat."
