I second most of the other reviews -- serene, lots of peacocks, nice gardens, etc. I'll just add that when we were there in mid-July 2014, there were no bathrooms available, which can be problematic when visiting with children.

I echo the sentiment of the other reviewers. Very serene little gem in the middle of the city. When we were at Mt Bonnel the other day, we drove right by it. This time, we stopped. The park itself is small and they had a wedding in progress. But they were kind enough to let us walk by. The real... More

Nicely hidden natural attraction. Many nice trails along the water. Very peaceful and quiet. Great place to spend an afternoon.

We took a couple hours on a very hot Austin day to visit the Peacocks, Palm Trees and Gardens. The garden plots are maintained by local residence. Some are extremely well cared for, while others seem to have been "a good idea at the time". The formal grounds, which include the cottage and water features are well maintained and the... More

I was looking up fun/free places to go when we went on our trip. I am glad I found this place. There are several peacocks that roam around the grounds area. Beautiful landscaping and the birds are breathtaking. There are coy and frogs in the ponds. This would be a great place for a picnic. My 6 year old loved... More

Well, It's not quite IN the city, but it's certainly not that far from the city centre. I'm not familiar with the public transport options, but I'm guessing that private car would be the best way to get here. Some beautiful tracks / paths through woodlands, and next to a creek, with plenty of wildlife. There's also the cottage area,... More

If your looking for somewhere to relax and get away from down town Austin, make a stop at this park. At the base of mt bonnell road, the park is easy to get to and is a nice stop for anyone going to mt bonell or to the military forces museum. There are quiet trails to walk and peacocks roam... More

And I ended up loving it!! It's also very close to Mt Bonnel, so you can knock two things off of your Austin list if you so desire. I love that the peacocks are just roaming around free. There were some trails around the property, but we didn't explore them very much. Mainly stayed in the courtyard area since that's... More

A fun little place to take young children to see and hear the peacocks. The loud calls are pretty impressive and the gardens are pretty & peaceful.

Nice family friendly park with walking trails and colorful peacocks roaming the premises. We enjoyed stopping here on our trip to Austin.
