This is an incredible piece of architecture right on 6th street in downtown Austin. Walking into it is to turn your clock back 120 years. The lobby is a special place where you are walking through the same space many of the most notable Texas movers and shakers have previously passed. You are caught up in the history of the... More

Nothing calms your nerves more than a exotic dinner after being scared out of your mind. The Driskill has long been known as a haunted hotel. The people who lived there were significant in the building of Texas.Their stories are colorful. Tours are offered. The restaurant in the hotel has been featured in many magazines throughout the country. This is... More

It's still got that old, quirky feel to it, especially as you walk through the lobby. It's unique. It may have its occasional issues but I don't want a world full of "me too" Hotel Suites. We went for dinner and the live music. The bar on the first floor is a good place to eat. Sadly, the day we... More

If you are into architecture and/or history visit this place. As soon as you step inside the lobby, a sense of grandness is inevitable. It has a nice bar area with interesting artifacts decorating. The balconies are big and with enough seating, nice place to relax. At times it can also feel creepy, which adds to the coolness factor.

We were really excited about our stay at the Driskill even though we were required to pre pay for 3-nights " non - refundable. To my dismay, the parking is very challenging. And we requested a quiet room, due long business days ahead, and confirmed ahead of time, plus read back to me upon check in by the clerk if... More

We spent two nights at the Driskill and had a great stay. The lobbly is gorgeous, and our room was lovely - high ceilings, comfortable bed, not huge by Texas standards but big enough! The staff was attentive, especially Randall in the bar - we stopped by for a cocktail before dinner, he gave us some recommendations for restaurants. We... More

This is a great historical building that is worth a visit if you are already on Congress Ave. It still hums when the Legislature is in town. You can have a drink, or a even cup of tea to rest up before heading out just to pick up the vibe.

What you must understand about the Driskill is that it was built when travel standards were quite different. By the standards of today, our room was quite tiny, and the bathroom was unremarkable (but clean and well-appointed). The in-room video was fuzzy, but hey, you're not staying at the Driskill to stay in your room, or at least, you shouldn't... More
