Every time I visit Austin, I try to stay at either the San Jose hotel or the Embassy Suites on South Congress so that I can be within walking distance of this location. My favourite times to walk is early in the morning and I call into one of the many excellent coffee shops for tacos, juice and espresso. Combine... More

We love to come to SoCo on the weekends. The eclectic food, people and shopping offer a break from the boring work week. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

Very original boutiques. Don't miss Allen Boots for that western experience. Between that shop and the other boutiques and antique shops, we stocked up on gifts, cards, boots and sportswear. A few cafes/restaurants that make for a nice stop.

While the district has been around for a while it has become a bit touristy. There used to be lots of very unusual, very Austin, stores but the interest in SoCo. kept getting greater. The landlords raised the rents until the little cool places were having to find other places. The fancy restaurants moved in, it's very hard to park... More

South Congress (SOCO) business district was our favorite location in Austin. Great music and a trip down memory lane at the Continental Club. Cup of Jo at Joe's across the street. Bands in park with food trucks a block away. Perla's for first class dining in the hood with lots of other options for food. Great browsing/shopping venues within the... More

Great local music, fun and friendly people, good beer and margaritas. In the hot weather they blow mist throughout the garden. The gorgeous historic tress provide great shade from the sun. A welcome spot for a break from shopping!

Where to start? at the SoCo Bridge to wait for the bats? Sure, but don't expect them to arrive. They will if they want and if you they don't move on up the road. There are so many great stores along South Congress, I would recommend hopping on the Bike Share program of Austin so that you can easily traverse... More

Small section of South Austin with shops, places to eat and collection of bars. Great place to people watch and stroll the street.
