Was looking for a place to check out and the kind and good-looking staff at Patagonia around 6th Street pointed me there. "It's a blast!" he said. So we walked for 25 minutes from 6th street, past the Congress Bridge, straight down onto SoCo. Many cool-looking, hipsters young people were riding their bikes/tricycles with passengers. A cool prelude for what's... More

We arrived around 10 am and walked the upper (i.e. funky) shops. I definitely see where the "keep Austin weird" comes from! Lots of shops with a "consignment" feel and others with new stuff that maybe just felt old. Stuff here is generally not of the garden variety (think plastic dinosaurs made into planters with succulents--weird, but cool!). There is... More

I've been going for many years. It's our Mecca. We fly into Bergstrom. Take the bus to Riverside and Congress.Call Enterprise RAC and we never have to leave the SoCo District our whole visit. During the day it's busy with tourists all having a ball and at night (when all the tourist are resting up for the next day) the... More

Great shopping, bars, and restaurants. Spend a day or night strolling the street. After that walk up to the congress bridge to check out the bats

If you like great shopping, excellent food and a taste of Old Austin, SoCo District is a must, not just for visitors but for all Austinites! A collection of stores that will keep you busy all day long just looking at a unique range of antique stores and modern shops. Hungry? A large number of ethnic cafes and food trailers... More

A relaxing, quirky and eclectic mix of businesses here, we came in the morning and evening (breakfast and a tattoo!) and enjoyed the Magnolia Cafe (be prepared to queue) and Amy's Ice Cream. NOT within walking distance of Austin city, but lots of parking or about $5 in a taxi. Everything is open til late and taxis are easily available... More

Truly funky. This area is what gives meaning to the slogan "Keep Austin Weird". Shopping and eating knows no limits. Parking is difficult at best - prepare to park a few blocks away and walk. Lots of good restaurants and food trucks along with shops of every kind. A must-see when visiting Austin.

We parked for free in front of the Austin Hotel. My husband and I spent an afternoon walking through this neighborhood. Stopped in at some cool shops. You must stop in at Allens Boots. You'll be amazed at the thousands of pairs of cowboy boots they have in all imaginable styles. The had some really nice leather belts made in... More

We started shopping in SoCo later in the afternoon on a Saturday. It was our first time, so we weren't sure exactly what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Galleries and unique boutiques abound! There seemed to be something for everyone in our party. Some of us loved the antique hunting, others were impressed with the handmade wares at the... More
