Life just doesn't get any sweeter than grabbing a cup of Iced Turbo at Joe's and strolling the Soco district....it is either all uphill or all downhill..depending, so wear appropriate shoes. But cute. This area is trendy and Fabulous, with a capital 'f', so no ugly shoes...! However, your eyes will be treated to some world class people-watching, some credit... More

Well, according to the gentleman from Bloomington, I must be a "libtard" ....whatever that is...because I love the South Congress area. The vibrancy of the business community, the restaurants, the shops, the food trucks and the throngs of people prove that the idea that we should all stay home watching Fox News while dreaming up conspiracy theories is not for... This area is very cool and young. There you can find very original shops, coffee shops, food trucks and restaurants. It's a nice area to take a walk on a Sunday morning or to have dinner. It deserves at least a short visit.

Going for Food: more for value, inexpensive, around the world food available with food carts. Those food carts in SoCo open for a longer, more predictable hours compared to those food carts around 6th street. Food carts in parking lots, some attached to small stage with music, beer garden and specialty, old, small restaurants also available. On the other hand,... More

I read a review by someone with the username 'takerm' from Illinois. The following is an excerpt from his comments - 'If you're a left-wing libtard driving into town in a Prius covered with Obama and pro-abortion decals, this is your place. This area is for the portion of the young generation of democrats who want to smoke dope all... More

Quite a fun somewhat Bohemian strip along South Congress with specialty shops, antique shops, artistic places, bric-a-brac shops, bookshops, restaurants, motels, a really nice extensive costume shop, many food trucks, and of course the famous love wall for photo opportunities (see photo!). Five minut drive from downtown. Visiting on a cold winter Saturday, parking was easy on the street. Even... More

Not so long ago, this place was great. Easy parking & a great place to stroll. Interesting restaurants; shops with fair prices; great food trucks; street vendors & performers. Not so much of any of the previous is true now. The place has been over-developed & Disney-fied. Parking is ridiculously scarce now, & restaurant & retail prices have skyrocketed. (I'm... More

Great place for walking around. Upscale boot stores and eclectic retail shops as well as iconic Austin food trucks. I enjoyed shopping @ Creatures Boutique and picked up a necklace by a local Austin designer & bee keeper, Anna Gieselman and her "Bee Amour" collection. Her designs incorporate honey combs and semi precious stones the color of honey. Employee was... More
