If Sixth Street is represents the nightlife of Austin then the SOCO district represents the daylife, for the most part. It's an eclectic mixture of modern and funky. There's shopping, dining, movie theaters and just general things to do and look at. You'll share lunch with business types and students. The restaurants can be kind of pricey but there's plenty that... More

Was eventually able to get a decent parking spot. We went on a Saturday at about 11:30 am. The candy store was very interesting. We did not really shop for clothes but instead just strolled up and down Southern Congress. Got some snacks at food trucks (though there was not that many food trucks). Gave street musicians a couple of... More

I enjoyed the vibe on the street, very metropolitan, with outdoor bands and outdoor eating, candy shops and shop with tex-mex items for sale, clothes, ice cream, and auto repair shops (what?!).

Visited twice. Live music at the oak cafe, incredible, expensive cowboy boots, markets and juice bars to name a few features we enjoyed. Parking is a problem but just about walkable from city centre if not too hot. Better yet get uber or similar there and the walk back is down hill. We all enjoyed this low rise, laid back... More

This area is a must do in visiting Austin. Great eats and offbeat shopping in a 6 block area just south of downtown. Fun.

South Congress has lots of bars restaurants and shops. There are places to eat late all along the strip and not pricey at all.

The neighborhood is super fun, lots of things to do, see and eat. Many restaurants playing live music, awesome good food-trucks. It's just beautiful to seat and relax while listing to good music and watching people passing by. Perfect for a happy hour at sunset time
