When traveling to different cities, we like to stop in at cool neighborhoods with interesting shops, restaurants and entertainment options. On that front, SoCo did not disappoint. We had lunch at Guero's and perused many of the independent clothing, art, gift and jewelry stores. Parking can be tricky, but is doable early or on side streets. It can also get... More

The food trucks, restaurants and shopping was fun for an afternoon in Austin. We enjoyed ice cream and shopping at the antique stores.

There is not a shop or restaurant on this street that I wouldn't visit again. The hubs and I LOVED this address and looking through all the great shops. Monkey See is a MUST, as well as Lucy's and The Big Top. We absolutely loved this strip!

A great neighborhood to wander. Lots of quirky shops and eateries. Some shops were closed because of July 4th weekend...but enough were open to make the walk meaningful.

Really enjoyed our afternoon wandering around the SoCo District, starting with a great lunch at Bouldin Creek (see separate review). We'd heard that parking could be problematic, but were lucky to find a vacant spot just behind Amy's Ice Creams. Did lots of window shopping - particularly enjoyed Allens Boots - and wished that we had some room left in... More

The concierge of our hotel described this area as unmissable. We went there and didn't agree. It was nice and had some interesting stores but is essentially just a street with shops on both sides. Very glad we didn't walk there from downtown as it's a long way and not worth it.

I haven't lived in Austin for 10 years now, but I had heard from a friend about this SoCo District area that has developed much differently than it used to be. The 6th street area that used to be a cool place to visit, just didn't hold any appeal to us. So my husband and I decided to check out... More

Food trucks, good restaurants, quirky stores, music. This is the "city center" of Austin. My fav. neighborhood. It's a bit pricey but going to the San Jose hotel back porch for a drink is a lovely escape.

This place is very kewl and a little hard to actually describe. The best then to do is make your way down here and experience yourself. Make plenty of time, some spending money and be hungry!

The South Congress district is a bit touristy, but there are hidden gems that the locals know about. The Saint Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop is a great place to go treasure hunting and Robot Sushi is DELICIOUS. The Continental Club is old school groovy, and Tesoro's is a great place to find a unique gift for friends.
