There are some fun/good restaurants on south congress street. There are also some interesting stores that sell unique items, but they close fairly early (7 or 8PM). Be aware that you may have to back into an angled parking spot on this busy street if you chose to park on the street itself and not elsewhere (we never have seen... More

South Congress is a wonderful area of Austin. Filled with unique shopping and dinning options, park your car and talk a walk on the wild side of Austin. Don't miss Home Slice, Monkey See, Monkey Do and Lucy in Disguise, just to mention of few of the SoCo stops.

It's trendy and overpriced and pretentious but I don't care. I just love it! I love exploring the craft booths and the food trucks and the funky shops. I love window shopping and people watching. I always find unique little trinkets and delicious food and drinks. I never leave disappointed just maybe with a lighter wallet. I'm sure if I... More

I took a leisurely walk from 3rd street over the bridge and into SoCo one afternoon while hubby was working. Enjoyed browsing thru all the little shops and wish we had the time to come back and visit some of the eateries. Next time!

Weekend of 12/16/14 found us once again wandering SoCo. While there we hit the Stag Men's Shop, Home Slice, Hop Doddy's and Jo's Coffee. Other times we have been from Hudson's Sausage or Magnolia all the way back down to Jo's. If you can try to get out here when the informal Hot Rod Show is here in SoCo in... More

I'll be honest, I passed through SoCo on the Hop-On bus with every intention of getting off and it didn't happen. We drove up, turned around and I thought "Is that it?" SoCo comes across as one of those places that's trying really hard to be hip and isn't quite pulling it off; lots of "trendy" shops, cafes and bars... More

There are multiple events on South Congress every year. It's mostly a major road the rest of the time. Miles of Cool shops, lots of food trucks, and traffic of epic proportions. Parking is a masters level course, they will tow you in the neighbor hoods off SoCo. People watching at it's best can be had from several watering holes... More

We especially liked the Tom's store. They are a coffee house with an outdoor seating area in addition to the indoor area. You can also sit on the front lawn. There is even a meeting space and a ping pong table. To us, this place just epitomizes Austin!

Not the common college hang out, this place offers a huge variety of down-to-earth foods with eclectic shopping options. We were way impressed and returned.
