We went to Soco for First Thursday in February. While the shops are cute and fun to look around, First Thursday was a big yawn. Maybe because it's winter? It was a little cold, not terrible.

Just wander through the streets, save some space for delicious burgers and Pizza and a few bucks to spend at the hipster stores. Especially in sunny conditions this certainly didnt feel like a typical US street.

Fun way to spend a little time shopping and eating. Very dog friendly area. Something for everyone. Uncommon Things was my favorite store.

SoCo is busy, even in February. Not sure what it is like in the better weather months. It is lots of fun with vintage neon signs for sale, lots of Mexican influenced shops, cowboy boots galore and fun places to eat. The picture shown above, of the Monte Cristo sandwich, is not really found on South Congress. It is one... More

These is a good street-place to hang out with friends or couples, they are a lot of restaurants a local food, most of the people are students from the area, but they are some tourists too.

SoCo is an interesting eclectic location that really personifies what Austin is all about. The shops are unique and local. This is a must do for visitors and locals. Keep coming back and discover something new each time.

We stayed in Austin for 3 nights around New Years. My wife and two college aged girls (daughter and friend) were with us. We all loved SoCo and went back for a second visit. Just walk the street and pop on wherever you like.

Forget ' dirty ' 6th Street. SoCo is far more interesting. Better, high quality bands and bars. We did a Friday night crawl around the area and had a blast.
