My second visit in eight months, this time with son and wife. This is the best history museum outside of the Smithsonian family of museums in DC. Treat yourself by allowing four hours.

The detail and authenticity of the exhibits are out of the ordinary. The museum is much less a dusty museum than an experience of the development of Texas--from terriroties that intrigued the French and Spanish, to a magnet for German Immmigration, as it became an important ground for the development of African American culture, cowboy initiative, agricultural ingenuity, and technological... Definitely the best museum for learning all about Texas, with lots of displays about the various immigrant groups that arrived, plus the history with/as Mexico and the US. Wonderful!!

The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is a really cool musuem on Texas history. Divided into three floors: Indians, Revolution, and the Modern Era, the Museum does a great job of telling the story of Texas and the people of Texas. Although it may not be as well organized as it could be, I've seen museums that were a... More

You could spend the whole day here. There is the IMAX with several shows, other short movies, and plenty of interesting material. Cafe is a nice place and the food is good. Try the Pecan coffee! Bring quarters for on street parking or park beneath the building.

I'm not a history buff, but this place provides a full view of Texas history - which is filled with turmoil and war. The building itself is impressive and this is a wonderful place to spend a few hours

We were visiting family in Austin. My bro. in-law has been living there with his family for the past while. His wife recommended the museum as a great place for out of towners travelling with small kids - that's us. We were hoping to make it a quick visit, but ended up spending most of the day there. It was... More

This museum was a good thing to do on a rainy New Years eve day. The museum was not too impressive. They will not let you take photos. The attendant claimed copy right laws. I have always taken pictures without flash from coast to coast in many museums. Parking is expensive and at least two blocks away. I will not... More
