New York has Central Park, S.F. Has Golden Gate Park...The Town Lake hiking/biking/walking trail compares to them both! Austinites are healthy & nice & you see those people on this groomed trail. The lake is beautiful & there are public water stops along the way. Just do it!

A walk around part [or all] of Town Lake will give you a glimpse into why Austin is such a fit community. There are so many things to see and do, including kayaking, running, biking, running, dog parties, swimming, SUP, or just sitting--the trails around this little oasis are first rate. Even in the dead of summer, the trees and... More

This is the place to stretch your legs. At sunset, it's a kick to stroll by the "Bat Bridge" and watch the creatures set out for their nightly dinners.

Even if you don't want to part take in actual lake activities you can walk or jog this trail and see some great Austin scenery. Stop and get your picture with Stephie come late in the day at sunset and watch the bats from the Congress Ave. bridge. Finding parking along Riverside is next to impossible, best to park in... More

I really enjoy this trail. Its not a techically difficult trail, no real elevation change, but it is beautiful. You can always stop at a restaurant to eat, or decide to paddle board or canoe on Town Lake (its Town Lake to the locals) or take your dogs to the dog park at Auditorium Shores. The trail is well maintained... More

I love walking or running around the Town Lake Trail. It's a great way to see the beauty of Austin and check out some of the sites like Auditorium Shores, S. Congress and the bats and more. It can get crowded on weekday evening and weekends, but still very peaceful. Always interesting people watching and fun to watch the canoers... More

I've run many a trail and sidewalk in my travels over the years, and this is by far the best. Very wide and well maintained all the way around the loop. It's a perfect spot to train for nearly any distance run, or just to walk on a nice day (stay to the right though, please)!

Great place to enjoy the outdoors. Great views along the trail. We were there on a Saturday and ran into a little band at one area and stopped for a while to listen. Cool area.

Set out one day for a nice walk and ended up walking for hours as I meandered the trail and different exits where I found shopping, restaurants and other tourist attractions. The trail is beautiful and maintained. More directional signs would be great!!

Hop on and off at any point but the best trail conditions and views are from South 1st Street west to MoPac. Check back in the future for the new boardwalk along the water between Congress and IH-35, filling in the missing piece on the south shore. Also if you're in a group remember to be mindful if you are... More
