With so many places to enjoy a coffee, sip a cocktail, listen to great music, shop till you drop, and eat a GREAT meal, SoCo has to rank #1. Whether you're just blowing through town, or a tried and true Austinite, this amazing district will never let you down. Oh, and boy does it have CHARACTER!

This is one of my favorite places to take visitors. You can spend a whole afternoon here investigating the bars, shops, and interesting stores. It is a very unique place that has not been taken over by chain stores. Start on the north end and work your way south. Do it at a leisurely pace and stop for a drink... More

Good food, good service, friendly crowd. Outdoor dining on a good day......the BEST! Parking can be an issue but the place is worth the extra steps.

Allot to see along this street. A whole day's worth of shops and food. Walk it with someone you love.

We love everything about the So Co area...all of the cool shops, bars, restaurants, hotels and best of all walkablity of the area. So close to downtown, but far away from the traffic of downtown. We stayed at the San Jose and Austin Motels and they are within walking distance to the famous bat bridge and running/walking/bike trails.

We love having dinner at one of the many foodie quality restaurants on South Congress and then strolling from little shop to shop. When we take the kids, okay even if we don't take the kids, our evening usually ends at the candy shop.

Any visitor to Austin should walk the South Congress street. It is a nice departure from 6th street and has more of a classic Austin feel. Be sure to eat at the food trucks on the east side of the street, and check out the extensive costume selection in the "Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds" costume shop. It's fun for... More

Lots of cool shops to peek into and look around. Also tons of really cool restaurants, I can't wait to come back and try them all. I can't believe I hadn't been on this street in my prior visits to the city! If you're up for a big walk, I would recommend walking straight from the Capitol, over the Congress... More

We've gone each of the last three years on our now Annual trip to Austin over Christmas Break and each year we've found something new and fun that we didn't experience previously. And we always walk away with a few things to take home with us.
