We rode the bus from downtown to this area--it was a quick trip. There are many shops and restaurants on several blocks. Plenty of things to see and do here. People-watching is awesome! We went in and out of several shops--our favorite was Uncommon Objects--then had dinner at Hopdoddy. Best burgers in Austin.

I was in Austin last week for the SXSW Music Conference and the one thing that I make a point of doing is walking up and down both sides of South Congress. This area is classic Austin with a mix of music clubs, cool shops, food trucks and great moderately priced restaurants. The Continental Club, one of the oldest music... More

Love this area of Austin! Jo's Coffee, Amey's Ice Cream, Lucy in Disguise Costume Shop, Vintage clothing stores... super fun. Enjoy an afternoon wandering around. Great food at the Trailer Eatery, live music at the Continental Club. So much to see and do in this area. Don't miss it.

Totally great places to shop. I did a bit more shopping than planned but I could not resist. If you get a chance, there is a store called The Turquoise Door on South Congress. This store is fantastic... amazing stuff... and the owner is so kind and friendly! Tons of gorgeous jewelry, art, accessories, sculptures...something for everyone.

This eclectic street reflects the real Austin. Filled with funky shops & restaurants, you can see the Capitol at the top of the hill

Great place to bring out of town visitors. Great restaurants and the perfect area for a nice Sunday afternoon. During festivals be sure to go to Guerro's taco bar. No telling who you might see there! Also the shops are great. Keeping Austin weird. Buy local!

This area was really cool. Lots of unique shops to browse, food trucks (with different styles of food), and just had an eclectic and funky style. Has some great restaurants as well, we tried Hopdoddy's and really enjoyed. My friend had a slice of the Home Slice pizza and she said it was awesome. Definitely a place you want to... More

Eat, shop, stroll, and people watch. South Congress, SoCo, has a mixture of shops, restaurants and food trucks that stretches along five or six blocks along S. Congress Avenue. Busy during the day on the weekends and lunch time during the week. First Thursdays, all the shops stay open until late and there's music. You can get there on the... More

Although SoCo has gone upscale in recent years, it is still a great place to experience Austin, with something for everyone. Whether you want Boho Chic, upscale or plain old "keep Austin weird" you will find it here. Staples like Guero's Taco Bar which now has an outdoor music venue are well worth the trip, as are the fabulous and... More
