The South Congress area of Austin is so varied and fun. You can park for free (make sure you back in to the spaces or you will get a ticket), walk around and it is safe and busy all day and night. The area boasts many great restaurants (South Congress Cafe, Hop Doddys, La Pearla) and pizza places, as well... More

So much to see and do, every step an adventure! Every kind of shop & food. Bustling and busy on a Saturday morning. Too bad I didn't have more time. Could have spent hours.

This is such a fun place to shop. You can spend many hours going through these shops. There is a fun mix of candy shops, gag shops, antique stores, vintage clothing, and great food stops. You could totally spend a whole day here.

Worth the price of admission. Lots of diversions and great people watching venue. A store/shop/restaurant along here for almost everyone.

Cool shops, live music, tons of restaurants, view of the Capital and awesome people watching. Plan a few hours to stroll and hang out.

This strip is full of diversity and soothing. After shopping and eating we saw the swarm of bats from the bridge. It's an experience you have to see.

We spent a lot of time walking South Congress as we stayed in the area. The are is whimsical - the 'Lucy in the Sky' shop is amazing, and we had a great chat with the staff (if you ever need anything for a costume party, this is the place to go). We went in numerous 'gently used' clothing stores,... More

I came to Austin thinking that it would be like Berkeley or Brooklyn -- different, original, artistic, diverse and artisanal. There is a lot of music and a great bike rental system, which is good. Otherwise it seemed pretty much just like Dallas.
