...and that's how we like it! Fun sights to see....just so happens there was a hot rod car show in town when we went, so we had fun checking out the cars.

There's a candy store with an everything-chocolate section and a candies-from-childhood section. There's a store selling denim and another selling thrift. There's a costume shop and a great shop stocked with handcrafted items from around the world. There's jewelry new and old amid collections of rare and vintage pieces and even vendors on the street. There are restaurants and food... More

I'd been expecting a more walkable neighborhood, and this felt like a strip mall to me -- Congress is so wide and the traffic is so heavy. Granted, I went twice on weekdays in an unseasonably cold early spring, so the street scene wasn't happening yet. I did get to see the Mexican handicrafts I love in several shops (although... More

It's just a little strip across the river from downtown, but it's by far our favorite place in Austin. Spend an afternoon here: eat an amazing burger at Hopdoddy's. Cruise through a cool hat shop, the oddities shop, clothing stores or just hang out at gueros for drinks. When the bands are on stage, visit the small but awesome Continental... More

I went on a nice saturday afternoon in January. 70 degrees. Tons of people and nice atmosphere. Had a cool busker from all parts unknown playing, one man band. Nice shops to look around and a open air market area. Too busy to eat there when I went, but lots of options. Two cool older Hotels there also, but they... More

Lot's of funky shops, and I love to hunt around funky shops. They have managed to take this particular asset of Austin and turn it into something that I'd just assume skip. No parking anywhere nearby. Not even paid parking options. Simply no space. All the side street parking is reserved/permit parking only. I get it why the residents need... More

This area is bustling and lively with lots of options for eating, drinking, shopping, and music. Don't skip the Continental Club or Home Slice Pizza. We wanted to try Hopdoddy but, the line was out the door still at 9 at night. Home Slice restaurant had a 1 1/2 hour wait for a tale but, you can get slices to... More

LOVE SoCo! Shops, bars, restaurants, food trucks, art market, street performers. We went to SoCo every day of our vacation. Always some where to go, something to see and definitely something to eat!

I'll be honest - we just slowly drove through the area. We had our dog with us and were on the hunt for real estate so we oohed and ahhhed at cute little cottages and bungalows in the surrounding neighborhood and then we oohed and ahhhed some more on the boulevard. But at some point my husband said, "it's just... More
