This is an important museum for historians, LBJ's contemporaries, students, and others for its treatment of Johnson's career and contemporaneous social, political, and military events, including the assassination of President Kennedy. The exhibit concerning the space program seemed to be the feature at the time of my visit, and it included all of the obligatory displays and news footage from... more

The LBJ Presidential Library & Museum is located on the campus of the University of Texas, near the stadium where the Longhorns play football. A path leads to the entrance surrounded by a chain link fence where construction is actively taking place. The plaza is being renovated and will be very attractive when completed. Admission is free, the only presidential... more

The museum is free and easy to get to from the expressway. It has multiple levels and many interesting exhibits about President Johnson and his wife. You get a very good sense of what made LBJ and Lady Bird tick. The museum brings them both alive. For example, there is an amazing exhbit about the JFK assassination and it includes... more

To quote my postcards sent to family and friends from this place: " .....they even have Lady Bird Johnson's bowling shoes and all the pens which LBJ used to sign all his great Society stuff!......" Yes, you can say I was in 20th Century history heaven when I was visiting. I could have spent days in this museum if I... more

While we were doing our road trip through Texas this past summer, we decided to stop off at this museum, not really expecting much. However, it was fabulous! LBJ lived during such an interesting period in history so the museum is designed in chronological order (it starts with an exhibit of what life was like when he was born). Lady... more

Start with the 20 minute film presentation of the life of LBJ and go at your own pace from there. Exhibits include information of the culture of America during LBJ's life, gifts received during his presidency, nearly full scale mock up of the oval office during his presidency and an in-depth look at Lady Bird Johnson. I enjoyed the chronicle... more
