Fun evening...lots of young folks...good music...Ester Follies is a must. Fourth St. has good music also...parking can be difficult some times, other wise it is worth a evening spent on Sixth Street!

its an eclectic mix of places to check out. there's the dirty 6th and there's the not-so-dirty one, pick your poison. if you need a place to eat, try Casino el Camino, great green chili and cheese fries and one of the best hamburgers Austin has to offer
very good music venues if you don't mind lots of young drinkers. Loud but we felt safe in a group. Some eating spots available too. A few homeless people on the streets but we had no problems with them.

Awesome area for a variety of music. SXSW the street is closed as there are tons of people checking out the venues!
I found geart places to eat here. You can find most any kinds of food here. There were nice bars/clubs Several types of music. It can be found here. I found some great shops as well. Nice little area for a city this size.
Nothing beats Sixth Street when you're spending time in Austin. There is no shortage of great venues for food, drinks, and music! It can get a bit on the grunge side, but that's also a home-grown part of Austin. Take a stroll up towards the Lamar intersection... Whole Foods flagship store in on the 5th / 6th and Lamar corner;...
