This was a near place to visit. It is a quick stop that can be done in a hour -they also offer tours inside that are free. The tours are a little long but very informative! We heard parts of the tour but then went to explore on our own and it was really neat.

Just a stone's throw from the capitol - has some other information and interactive displays for kids. Worth a quick stop, especially since it is air conditioned!

So close yet so far away. Was given directions and walked in circles. It is right near the Capitol Building. The exhibits were very nice and the staff could have been friendlier.

We have toured the State Capitol twice. Seriously, the tour is that good! The guide does a very thorough job and tells wonderful annecdotes about the building and the state. It is especially fun to see the legislative chambers.

capitol building in the down town AUSTIN TX is a must visit tourist attraction. Almost more than a century old building represents the finest architecture of the day. The dome of this four storied building is excellent. The house of representatives in level two is to be seen. The stone structure represents the spirit of AUSTIN TX. Must see when... More

firstly, this building is huge (3 stories!) and very detailed. the entire second level is a kid friendly museum dedicated to the general history of Austin and building of the Capital. The first level, along with an upscale gift store, is where you will find some of the friendliest, most helpful people in Austin! They can tell you anything you... More

I had the opportunity recently to visit the Texas State Capital and it is impressive to say the least. The capital tour was excellent, we toured every major portion of the capital including the legislative branches and the governors office. The capital rotunda is just incredible, the artwork and statues around the capital building are a tour in itself. I... More

We didn't have the time do the tour of the capital; however, simply being on the grounds was really nice. I hope to go back for the tour.

We were limited on time so we didn't have time for the 90 minute free tour of the gigantic Capitol building. But we did have time to tour the grounds and the interesting visitors center where a very nice gentleman gave us some great tips on where to visit in the city.
